Surfriding Krashing into a 50 Cal... Stage 2!

Yea that all went pretty smooth. I had a lot more trouble getting the water box, B pipie, battery in. LOL dont know why it took me so long to ziptie the bungees in. Only reason I think it took me so long is I am a bit OCD.

Yeah that Bpipe elbow was a b!tch lol. Your ski looks real clean tho, That CF tank looks like it fits nice. I couldn't bring myself to put my stock dirty tank in lol

Thanks!!! I put a pice of conveyor belt on front of tank just in case it rubs on the bolt. I used the straps to hold it down and it helps the tank not slip around. I really wanted to use that Air Time Products battery tray but they made it 75mm which is 2.923 inches and all decent batteries I would use for riding in the surf the smallest of which is 3 inches wide SOB!!! So for now I have the stock tray until my Cold Fusion tray comes in. I almost went with the combo tank ( tray built into gas tank ) and still might if I see one I really like. I still have 2 put some shielding between tank and pipe just to be safe. Can't wait to ride it later today.

Just a heads up.. there is aluminum plates in the hull under the glass so you can drill into them for mounting hooks or reconfiguring your layout. I know this because the very first bolt I went to put in I snapped the head off and the threads where flush in the hull..(OMG!!!) LOL Not a good start.

The 50cal is so...easy to ride! I love the way it turns, slashes. The wide tray of the 50cal is absolute MONEY! You can really make it dig in or let it slid out. There was a little 2 foot chop on the river and I literally turned hit the throttle, and the wave and almost did a complete 360. Busted my AZZ because I did not expect that much rotation so easily. Timed some jumps pretty good and the 50cal just wanted to fly like a bird. I mean damn this was my first day on the thing and I felt like I was in such control of everything. Did a couple of high speed runs and its really solid on the top end as well. I am really happy so far with the Group K 718 sleeper and the 7-14 Skat cut back prop.

And the final pieces to the build have arrived!

Looks like I'll have to drill and tap the front of the intake track for the grate to mount to but no biggie. Also have some 2" wedges to throw in behind the adjustable holds. Ive lost alot of ankle mobility due to injuries anddd skipping leg day :(

Shes on the water! and was christened with crappy conditions, a short ride in the surf, nothing but chop, a handle pole that was too long (which made recovery a b!tch) and I still dont have an intake grate but wow this thing carves and slashes waves soo well. The width makes it super stable and easy to ride. Took the chop and just ate it up way better than my SJ would have in these conditions. High speed runs were easy and very stable, the 7/13 prop is nicely suited for a ported 718 and I think the bottom end will pick up more with the intake grate. I need to figure out the front foothold tho, there's about an inch gap above my foot and its impossible to kick into. The rear adjustable ones need to get trimmed down as well. Probably going to convert them to kick in instead of ankle breaking slip in lol. If anyone has an idea of how to fix the footholds post it porfavor.
The highlight of the ride was the awesome motor!

And then there was a sinking SXR

Technically Im working today but thats not stopping me from riding! Installed the Worx intake grate which was too wide for the tunnel :/ and also needed to file the poop out of it to fit the shoe correctly. Oh and rigged up a sweet ratchet strap/ limit rope mount.

Is the tray foamed..? Hope not!

Since this is a 50cal surf thread.... Here is a way to upgrade your hood pin. The factory pin is ok but I want to be able to get a really good seal. Once the factroy pin is set you cannot ratchet the hood into the seal more.
This is my solution 1 3/8 x 3 bolt, 3 large washers, 1 3/8 nut and a 3/8 wing nut.
Cut out the old pin on the hinges ( very easy ) drill a 1/2 hole into your latch all the way thru. Put the 3/8 bolt in place of your old pin and you are done!
You can now press the hood down and tighten the wing nut so the hood is nice and snug. I still run my strap over the top of the wing nut ( $$$$ in my motor LOL ) just in case. I ride a lot and very aggressively in surf only, I am just starting to learn to flip so I don't want to worry about my hood at all.

One thing you can do to get more throw on your steering ( Kavinci pole ) is to make sure your steering ball is set in the recess facing up as pictured below. You can take it to the next level ( like I did ) to get max throw and grind down your stops as well.
