Kv997 exhaust manifold

Is there any other manifold that could be fitted ko kv997. Im planing to use that engine but need to make different exhaust setup to fit the engine in my hull.

I like challenges. So many riders out there whos engine is working. And there is so many things you can do to kv engine to make it work. Things that they did not do

I think your best bet would be to have a spacer plate made, the holes don't look that far off looks like the top holes are splayed out, on spacer plates usually the larger the difference between bolt spacings the better , it give you more design options , but there is only so much you can tell from pictures on the internet , maybe get a Yamaha exhaust gasket and lay it on the exhaust then take a pic so we can see what you are dealing with or if it's even possible.

I have no idea what that motor actually is , it looks similar to an Etec Skidioo engine but the front cover looks like a Yamaha and the crankshaft looks Skidooish but wit no gear in the middle, crank seals look like Seadoo 951 seals.

Cylinder is kavinci desing. Cases mod from skidoo if im right. Mid bearings from seadoo 580-650 end bearings from yamaha, rods and possible pistons from honda cr500, flywheel from spark... and list goes on...
I have hears many complais about that engine. But many good mechanic says they work after few adjusts. So im trying to make it work because im interested. But it wont fit in wb1 without cutting hull or finding laydown exhaust. Engine is just too high with blackops carbs and exhaust. I will take photo from exhaust with 701 gasket so you can see how much wider kv engine is. It is possible that i will find close match manifold in skidoo.. but its a long shot. But hey i have long winter to build and try

But i think its weird that you cant find any kv997 engine case pictures or those middle seal pictures anywhere on internet. So kavinchi and krash dont want people to know what is what

Here is photo of that ??? Cylinder that is close to skidoo

I looked through a bunch of Skidoo caaes on Ebay , and trust me I mean I really looked , I never could find any Skidoo case that looks exactly like this , in particular the water pump area on Skidoos is more of an oval shape and on the opposite side of the cases , the flywheel area is way different , also pretty much all the Skidoo cases have two removable screw in plugs on the left side of the cases .

I have done lots of search too.. i only find something that is close.. but.. if kavinchi made this from scratch, why would they made housing for waterpump.. that and few other clues indicate that this is either from some existing engine or they modify mold or made new mold based on some engine.

I even looked up some Artic cat and Polaris snowmobile engines and I came up empty there as well , I do know that BRP stopped making the etec engines some time back, it possible they bought some of that tooling and modified it, who knows ?

The biggest concern for me is the distance of the crank between the cylinders. I'd be worried about it twisting up once you start making power. There is definitely some potential there to make good power with proper porting. A friend bought a brand new reaper last year with the 1200 fuel injected version. He's spent some time getting it reliable with upgrades and replacing certain electrical components. He recently tore his engine down and found a blown inner crank seal. Amazed it was actually still running. But its going to need to be pulled apart to replace the seals or 1450 bucks for a new crank.

I have engine that has about 10hours on it. Ski was sold new and problems from start. 2 times someone from krash came to finland to fix it but it ended up back to dealer and from there to my friend and now it is my problem haha.. inner crank seal was bad in this motor too.. inner seal lip was grinded to dust in some parts. You can see red dust in case pictures. Surface on the crank is smooth no scratches or anything. So i think it is either wrong size for this engine or it should have greese in it. That problem i was planinhmg to resolve by adding some oil to that middle "chamber" i dont see any harm by doing it. And yes i have to replace inner bearings too while i open it.. but im thinking why they deside to run them dry.. not even one drop of oil or any other lubricant.. seals have lips both side. Rod side will have lube from gadoline but inner side nothing..
And i also noticed that there is no holes in bearings like superjet engine have. Superjet engine case has holes so that fuel oil mix can reach bearings.. but this one has nothing. Reason for that is that it has different water routing than superjet. So if you drill a hole to case (same place where superjet has) you will reach water channel

I took some photos. Did not measure anythin yet. But you can see the size difference between 701 an kv997. See last picture. There is dent on exhaust side. Surface is not straight and that might be the reason why this was not working. Gasket did not hold up and water got in the engine from cooling side.

The Seadoo rotary valve engines are set up that way with oil in the cavity , the worse that can happen is the seals start leaking and suck the oil out of the cavity .

I too have concerns about the cylinder spacing , Seadoo went to reed induction on the 951's for that very reason ,if you had squeezed a rotary valve shaft in there it would have been too much crank torsion (twisting ) to ever get a reliable engine , it is the same reason they stagger ignition timing and compression on Yamaha 1200 engines.

Water can defiantly get in at that exhaust gasket if it is not sealed properly .

That cylinder looks almost the same size as a Seadoo 951 cylinder , which makes sense since it's a 997.

One of the top freestyle engine builders tried to make the Krash engine work properly for freestyle/freeride. He said it ended in a bunch of wasted time and effort. He said the cases are way too big, and epoxy wouldnt fix it. Just relaying his opinion, don't shoot the messenger.

I went on the krash website to see how in the world they are managing to sell skis with how crappy the drivetrain is, and it looks like they are now going with a fuel injected 1162. I did a quick search on here, doesn't look like its ever even been mentioned. Kinda hoping this works out for them, that will be a kick ass ski for $13k.
