Lake Powell 2 Stroke Ban 2015

Just seeing who has been to Powell during 2015 and if you managed to get your ski in the water. Heading down to the houseboat next week and want to see how "covert" our operation is going to have to be to get them on the houseboat.

Thanks for the feedback. I plan on being extremely careful. We'll be loading up and heading out to a secluded area. Just concerned about getting through the main gate and getting them on the boat.

I'll be there Wednesday hopefully no trouble from the water cops . Last year a few houseboats in antelope marina had stand ups on the back so idk if they even care .

Ya dude have fun out there I wish I could bring my stand ups out on my houseboat but I'm 16 and my parents wouldn't even consider it. We have one of those timeshares that is dry docked in page so I could just load them on the top of the boat in the lot at laketime, idk how the laketime dudes would like it though hahahaha

That's exactly what I'm doing haha load it in the dry dock only bummer is the house boat is like 5 feet off the ground

Just got back from Powell and figured I'd post an update for anyone planning on heading down there with your ski. I was shocked at how much they could care less about 2 strokes. Drove in with two superjet's on a trailer, launched from the main boat ramp with no issues whatsoever. Half way through the trip we had a fish cop pull into our cove while I was working on one of the skis by the houseboat. They could have cared less and went on their way. At the end of the trip I even went through the mussel inspection station and had them inspected and tagged without a snag. I guess DNR thinks the 2 stroke ban is as stupid as we do. Hope this is helpful for anyone planning a trip.

cut down the traffic on the lake and drive people away, or profit and turn a bind eye. cutting out two strokes effects a lot more than just superjets. Mercury makes a 9.9 two stroke outboard.

The thing that irritates me the most is that the ban only applies to PWC and not outboards. There were tons of smoking 70's era outboards all over Powell. I'm sure this is part of the reason the enforcement of the ban is so relaxed. Even the fish cops can see how silly it is to remove a couple jet skis when you have these boats running all over the place.

Exactly... That PWC 2 stroke ban starts at Powell, goes through Mead, Lake Mohave, and is over at Laughlin where the river starts and is ban free all the way to Mexico. Basically all National parks are PWC 2 stroke banned.

Right now they are more worried about the mussels... but there will be a day maybe in the next 10 years or less when they outlaw ALL 2 strokes except ones with new clean fuel injection systems.

I was going to say the same thing, the guy that did the mussel check on my superjet and fx1 literally told me they don't enforce the 2stroke ban, as it would bring argument over the issue of the 2 stroke boats are remaining legal. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and ride. Btw I literally only had my 2 standups with me.

This is good news, I'm surprised some greedy lawyer hasn't hit the powers that be with a class action law suit, since the 2-stroke ban is clear discrimination as it singles out only Jet skis. Jets ski lives matter! haha!
