Other Landing and not falling while jumping?

Ive only been out for like 3 good rides so far on my SJ SN. And Ive only ridden stand ups a few times. But Im gettin the hang of it pretty quickly. With my back round of motocross riding and surfing I think Im picking it up well.
Today I had a lot of boats running by making a good wake so I was trying to jump it. Im having a hard time after landing the jump staying up and not falling to the side, especially if I hit a good wake and the ski seems to be going straight up. I think my issue is while landing i need to collapse more and bring the pole down to lower my center of gravity and get going again. but im not sure. I try that and try to power out of and some times the ski just shoots its self out of the water.

I see guys jumping in the surf and when they land they most of the time can ride out of it. Instead of having to get back up like I have been doing. Any tips? I feel like if my pole was a little shorter and i didnt have so much weight off the back of my tray I might be able to do it.

Any comments would be great. Not really a trick, but I dont know where else to post. Thanks

It seems you know where the root of your problems are to start off, only thing i have to say os make sure you are not falling or weighting one side of ski on your wake approach, stay balanced and you should fly straight. Remember its not like mx where you have to ride the bike, let the ski takeyou for a ride dont work it too much.

What scott said, make sure you aren't landing with more weight on one side. Obviously taking off straight with no horizontal roll of the ski helps.

Hmm I think im seeing my problem. Letting my self sink to much after landing and probably jumping in surf stance. Thanks for all the replies. I will be getting plenty of pratice. I dont even wanna work anymore, just ride lol.

X2. Land tail first, stomp your pump in and blast it so you don't sink deep and bob up. Practice.

DONT land tail first and dont stand with both feet in the back...

when you are apexing your jump bend your knees and bring the ski up underneath you then re-extend them on the way down...do like you said and use your knees to absorb the impact and get your pole on the hood...land on the gas and you should be good...you can land from 10+ to flat no problem if you have some momentum and land on the pipe....

there is nothing lamer than a strait air with the nose over your head and your legs pencil strait...

you can land with your weight off to one side you just have to countersteer...

^^^^^^ exactly, put well. if you have ever skateboarded or riden bmx it is similar motion to and olly or bunnyhop. as you go up you bring the ski to you and you go down you push the ski to meet the water this will also help you fly flatter and keep your forward momentum

I tend to blip the throttle right as im landing...this gets the ski back up out of the water before it sinks and leans over to one side. Also if you are way back in the air, lean forward as far as possible. Just be careful when the ski pops back up out of the water so it doesnt smash your face in the pole!

So landing FLAT is better right....Ouch!
The "pulling up the back of the ski thing" is done while in Mid air.....that is it.
You DO want to land ass first, and I mean the ass of the ski not your own.

I forgot!
What you do in the air is each persons style but landing flat is bad. Tail land helps absorb some impact force and the throttle blast keeps you moving forward and on plane.
