the problem is you have to have a campsite before they will let you into the grounds, so you need it sorted out before you show up.

So the people that arrive early might want to start a list of open spots. It can be common knowledge. That way, people without can then call ahead to someone they know that's already there before they arrive, and find out whats open.

what do i need to do so that someone can stay on my site with me? Do i just let them know at the front gate that Jens will be staying with me? or do i have to call in addvance and let them know. wouldnt think it would be a big deal but this campgrounds has some strange rules.

also how big is the tent area?

You just let them now at the gate. The tent pad is probably 20' by 30' or so: pretty big actually.
