yeah I am still confused on how at Lanier you can have 4 cig boats racing at 100+ MPH cutting inside blind turns just to beat the other guy and not be stopped by DRN everytime, its not like its hard to see them racing.

Not to mention Wake Surfing, your literally 4 feet behind the boat.

No I am not lobbying for something that is illegal. Running bouys is not illegal as long as you are so many feet from each other. I keep telling you that this is not about Lanier and freeriding. If setting bouys out is illegal than all the fisherman are breaking the law ( its not I checked). This is about stopping the antijetski sentament on our lakes. And it dosn't matter how good of a plan you cannot fight the U.S. government. You work from inside the system and try to get the politicians on your side. I dont know about the rest of you but I can ride and not be breaking the law. Yet I still have to put up with the crap from the D.N.R. I totally agree that this would not have an immediate effect but at least when anti PWC legislation goes on the floor maybe just maybe that letter would come to thier mind. This is simple elementary school social studies stuff it dosn't take a rocket scientist to figure out. I have went up against the Man many times and you know what' i didn't win everytime but I didn't loose everytime either. At least I can say I wasn't a :purr: and let them push me around.

At this point this doesn't really belong in this forum anymore, but I didn't want to make a new thread for this. Just an extra kick in the balls to us; we can't have our event, but they want to spend $30 MILLION DOLLARS to bring in fishermen (who are, in my experience, far more dangerous on the waters than we are).

Now, can some of yall see this isnt just a knee-jerk for those of us who live in GA? After we get kicked off Lanier, reading this just makes me want to cry.
Just would like to continue to encourage Georgians to let our "powers that be" know that we're getting hosed. :frown:

So have I been reading these threads right...there is a ban on all stand up jet ski's on all parts of lake lanier? Or are they just not letting us have the ride there?

what if you have the older kawi that did not have a lanyard? is that ticketable since it did not come that way stock? I figure it would be like the older cars that did not have seat belts, they diid not make you put seat belts in and they could not ticket you for it. just want to find out as the guy going to the tx ride has the older sx without a factory lanyard.

thanks,

You could always argue that it's in violation of our 1st amendment rights...

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

why was freestyling at lanier okay the last 2 years but now its suddenly bad????

As with any stupid irrational decision that is made follow the money that usually tells you why,it sounds like they are thinking the bass fisherman will either bring in or spend more money than the jetskiers will.

yeah, but here is the thing...no one said we can't gather at lanier...we can gather all we want, we can ride, we can have fun...what they said was the first person to do any freestyle (which would fall under reckless boating and is therefore illegal) will get arrested...

now, we all know the law is biased against us...most stand up riders are way more responsible than they guy cruising his sit down on the lake for the weekend, killin 360's close to other people, riding where it is not prudent...

but it is the law...and the first thing we would need to do is get the law changed to reflect the modern times and use of jet skis today versus 10 years ago...

Amen, Brother...

And it's not a battle that can be won quickly with a few letters from members of our group. It will take time and patience to beat the system.
