Learned to Sub today!!!!

Well..... sorta. I learned by mistake haha. I got my sj running today after over a month of being down due to a bad start switch :banghead: . I know its a long time for a start switch guys  . Anyways when I first got out I tried to do a couple subs and couldnt really do anything. I have tried them before and the same thing. Granted I dont have lifters or footholds.... yet. Anyways later in the night I was messin around when I saw a ski come across the lake (only boat I saw in the water all night) and went to hit its puny little wake. I hit its wake perfect, launching me up and next thing I know the nose is pointed nearly straight down into the water. I hit the water thinking oh ******** and flew straight over the handlebars:arms: . So I took what I learned here and within 30 minutes I could do them almost on command. I only could resurface on about 1/3 of what I was doin though. The rest I fell forward. But hey... its a start

I learned to do a full sub about a year after I bought my roundnose, and after riding a 300sx for 4 or 5 years,it was well worth the full purchase price.I know the feeling-congrats!!!:Banane01:

actually today at the lake i came close to pulling one off. kind scared the crap outta me but i bet it looked goofy.

Im sure I looked goofy as hell the first one that I accidently did off the wake. I didnt even know what was goin on for a sec when I hit the water. All I thought was "oh ********" and hit the water almost at a 90, flipping me over the handlepole immediately..... damn I cant wait to go ride tomorrow :Banane01:

I just learned this week too... coming off my sxr from last year onto the SJ is a HUGE night and day difference! Plus lifters help big time.

My problem is that my face keeps hitting the water hard. I need to learn to tuck behind the pole. Last week I swore I was going to have a black eye from my first sub.

I'm tired of getting headaches from subs!! But I'm still pretty psyched!:woot:

What is the best way to solve the water blast to the face issue? If I tuck my face behind the pole am I gonna smash it? lol. Is it time to get a helmet or can subs be done without one without much need to worry?

I've seen most people tuck in behind the pole. I think that's the standard.

sub

i usually tuck behind the pole, look down and blip it when i hit the water, that way it gives you momentum to ride it out. but be careful, the first few times i tried that the water agianst my finger kept the throttle open! oh you gotta have a good bilgepump to try it over and over, or bad things happen.
good luck!

if your doing it with a little speed sub in and wait a split second, then your boat will start to come up on an angle and that's when you get back on the gas so when you come out of the water your lookin good...
