How is that working out for ya?
Looks like it working perfectly. I promise that person is learning as they go, and will either get correct advice or pay a known mechanic to do it from now on. That's learning to me, regardless of the process to get there.

We are looking at this from slightly differant perspectives, while he is learning, the cost of this lesson is high!
To take advise from the general FB generation, compared to dedicated enthusiasts forums, what are your chances of getting sound advise?? That was my point in the post! Learning is always good! The price you willing to pay is the debatable part!

Couple setscrews and back on the water.

The question is how much time and money did they spend until they found out that was the issue!

I would think it would be quite obvious ? its like im going im going im going ....now not ...but my engines is still reving.....

I am thinking a young kid or someone and this is there first jetski.

Step 1: Adjusted the screws on the carburetor.
Step 2: replace sparkplugs
Step 3: shine flashlight in impeller
step 4: ask a friend
step 5: clean carb
step 6: red RTV carb back to manifold
step 7: check pump with flashlight again
step 8: sell on craigslist "Runs great, needs carb tuned"

probably some butter AM shaft and why are the splines still on the very end? looks like it was in a waterdog hull that used the gp1200 midshaft, where the driveshaft sticks thru the splines and just about touches the coupler. no SJ or blaster with the wrong spline engagement ever leaves splines on the end. these splines were fully engaged since its stripped clear back to the smooth shaft.
so whats the whole story?

I have many of the same questions? All I know is its a very early aftermarket hull, like a first gen XFT? Possible splashed hull?? The mid shaft assmbly was blown out with the mid shaft basicly freefloating foward and aft.
The pump hull mounts are also wrecked. Its a mess. Once I have the parts in and rebuillt, Ill get the hull do the hull work and repair / reassmbly. Will know more then. Doing this work is never boring, thats for sure

"Spline engagment was bottomed out and midshaft and driveshaft cut into each other and there was no room for driveline movement. " words of JM previously, could that be the case here ?

Probably "the" most important step in starting a build is "correct alignment of the midshaft".
That said,l have done rookie crap before without thinking about it first.Like not putting a washer behind the coupler on the midshaft (trying to get engine back further). We all do it,but a world of info on the X.lf you will just look it up.And if you search here without luck, google it.Most likely it will direct you right back here.
I still go with the statement from another member told to me before l ever started my first build,"think 5 steps ahead before proceeding" Simple poop

Thanks for sharing Jr.

This ought to be made a sticky

Where's the link in the Tech FAQ that shows the propper way to allign pump? It's not there, who's fault, daggum managment going MIA or not caring since they allready know how to do it? Where do people then turn, Facebook...

There's so much good (and bad) info on this site. A Pin is a great way for a noobie to tell the difference. When was the last time tech info was Pined?
