LeftysRule22 Broken bolt in exhaust

I bought a coffman sizzler exhaust system from him. He packaged it well, sent it on time but... When he removed the exhaust he must have broken the bolt that holds the pipe to the exhaust manifold. I have about 4 hours in trying to remove it, now I have to buy a helicoil kit and put a new thread in there. He knew about it when he sent it obviously, didnt say a thing. PMed him to say that was really uncool and havent heard anything back. I would say this counts as a negative experience. I am out the 30 bucks to buy a helicoil kit and out 4 hours of my life. Super uncool thing to do, passing your problem onto someone else.

It should be noted that the damaged threads were stated in the ad, and the pipe was priced accordingly.

Time for me to roll with the big boys, getting a factory pipe. This is a great pipe, it has treated me well in my FX1. Great all around power. The threads for the mid chamber support on the manifold are about gone, could use a helicoil. I through bolted it and it worked fine however. Other than that its just a bit dirty.

It stated the threads were damaged, not that the bolt was broken off. If it was just a helicoil like stated no problem, I did one yesterday for this. Its the removing the broken bolt that I had the problem with. Helicoils are easy, that part took me 15 minutes. Removing a sheared off bolt was the part I did not like.

Bolt is out, helicoil is in. If it was stripped no problem at all. Removing a broken bolt, that really sucks, this was the single hardest bolt I have ever removed. I ended up having to put it in a mill and drill the bolt out. I wish it was just stripped, that would have made it easy. Anyways problem is solved. I do not consider Lefty a bad seller, everything else went very well, but a broken bolt is very different than a stripped hole that needs a helicoil.

Markypeas is correct. The bolt snapped in the crappy threads when I pulled the exhaust, after the sale. Because I am busy with school and work ramping up I sent the part out in a rush (knowing that nobody wants to wait for parts). I figured either way the hole needed to be drilled, snapped bolt or not. Seemed like an easy fix to me, I guess I should have done it myself.
