I'm for sure not a composites guy and claim to know very little. For those that are:
I made my last TL mount plate out of what I thought was Lexan 1/4" thick polycarbonate. Does anyone know if the Optix version of the same stuff is as durable? It's listed as only a 1/10 as strong as lexan, but didn't know if that refers to shatter resistance or what. I'm want to redo my TL plate this off season and can't find Lexan local, but can find the Optix. Lexan is stated as 250x stronger than glass, where Optix is stated as 20x stronger. I have it mounted against the bulkhead above the FFH. I try to buffer the plate with rubber grommets between the mounts and the plate and use large diameter washers on the front side to lessen the stress load on the mount holes.
