Other Life Jackets options

I hate how traditional life jackets (the ones with foam and buckles in the front) fit. They always slide up when in the water. I'm looking to buy a new life jacket in hopes of finding one that doesn't do this but I need some help I don't know what to look for in a life jacket that would prevent this. Any help would be much appreciated.

If your traditional life vest slides up in the water, it's too big or isn't adjusted properly. There should be a small gap between the front sections, and the straps should be pretty snug fit - holding the vest tight against your body. There should be no overlapping pads.

I have a number of life vests, including a regular type III 4-buckle vest, type 5 side entry pullover, and type 5 neoprene pullover. On my skis, I like the neo pullover. On the couches, I wear the regular vest mostly.

I've found that wakeboard vests work really well. They are form-fitting and generally do not have a lot of excess strap material flapping in the breeze. Very good mobility. Just make sure it's US Coast Guard approved to be compliant with the law.

i really dont notice a difference when its wet. im sure its a little heavier being that the neoprene can absorb water. the foam itself doesnt hold water and it dries in the same amount of time as my 2/3 wet suit. the sizing is in inches and pretty accurate. my chest is 38in and i bought a med which is 36-38in. it is snug but not to tight, and i never have to readjust it. super comfy on all day rides and range of motion is great in the arm areas. i have had it for 1 1/2 years now and its just as the day i bought it. downfall, its kinda pricey but you get what you pay for.

i swear im not a sales rep lol

When properly fitted and adjusted, even the $15 walmart vests don't ride up so this should be your first requirement without compromise. Comfort, mobility, and looks are all secondary to a properly fit vest.
