Other Lifted trucks and skis in the bed

x2 on the electric winch. That's what I use when I HAVE to get the skis in the truck instead of on the trailer. $60 harbor freight remote controlled winch with a pvc ramp works like a peach. I made a ramp out of 3" sch 40 pvc, but the wood pvc capped may work better. There's more to this setup though. All simple, but still needed. Once in the truck a stand is needed, that is mounted, or tied off. And the ski will need to be tied off as well. The winch will need a solid and square anchor point. Only one pic of them in the truck and tied off. OCDSolutions << (member) has a very nice setup, with pics too. Might have to dig for it though. I can't remember the thread it was on, but there's a few threads on the subject.

edit: The same setup works in my sons truck with a 6" lift and 35"s

My current truck isn't lifted but my jeep with a hitch hauler used to be. I just backed the jeep until the ski was in the water. My front tires would be half submerged in the water and I'd step into the water up to my knees. Just back until the tail gate is in the water. I do that with my S10 on a steep ramp and it works fine with 2wd and gentle acceleration. I would recommend 4wd if you go down as far as I did with the jeep but then again...if you're lifted that high and don't have 4wd, you fail! :slap:

I have a hitch cargo deal and it has a 500 lb capacity but I have still been a little cautious of using it. It sure would make it alot easier. Jay you got it right I also have the harbor freight remote unit and it works great make sure you use lube on it it will rust.

I made my own hitch hauler for around $75.

I went off this and it works like a champ. I didn't add any of that adjustable crap. I went off the chines on my hull, welded it up solid and blammm-O its good.

If its too high, you could make or buy something like this to drop it down.

I think the whole 'Winch, roller, PVC' thing is a PITA. Why get a winch when you can just drive/push your ski on a carrier. I should mention that I have a fiberglass bed cover, so carrying in the bed is no bueno for me.

I agree. The only reason I did the winch setup was because when we go camping, I have to tow the camping tailer and HAD to have the skis. Especially on long trips. Some day I will build my own hitch hauler though. It sucks to drive a couple hours (by myself) and have to tow all the skis, or the winch trick.

X2

Local guy in St Auggie makes them.. Butti on the X

Very nice, I think he makes one that allows you to sell haul a trailer

I couldnt live without my hitch hauler.....

2 in the bed, one on the hauler.......and is in a TACOMA

lots of guys have listed and tried to sell haulers........but buttis are the nicest and strongest with the most tiedowns, a trailer hitch and the strongest design Ive seen to date......

he might actually make a few bucks if he didnt spend hours and hours and hours on every project trying to make every piece perfect

in my jetski world I need a few different ways to haul my ski...sometimes it goes in the bed of the truck on bunks....sometimes on my single trailer, but the majority of the time I use the hauler...

Not a pickup, but I have 4.5" lift to deal with.

First give your beach cart a lift! Make bunks angled so nose of the ski gets you extra 6" clearance. And slap a winch in the bed....Greatest setup ever!

i use a hitch hauler as well. i made it myself out of some scrap angle iron and i piece of 2" square tubing. i love it, hell i dont even take it off half the time now thats its getting warmer.

i cant back it down to where it will float off/on (it would come in the back doors) but i can still load it by my self, even after a long day of riding. another thing that helps is my garage cart is the same height as my hitch hauler.
