Looks like you'd need an auto-shutoff circuit so that you didn't over discharge the battery. forgetting to turn off you bilge pump could destroy your brand new $130 battery in a flash.

I'm not sure why this is a problem. harbor freight has this inline circuit for their solar panel chargers. works on 3 6 9 and 12 volts. I forget what amps it shuts off at but I believe its 9. Its about $19. Only thing youd have to do is water proof the box.

701 starter amp draw specs on a bigbore

My 701 has to run on racing fuel ''I found out the hard way '' just to give you an idea on compression for comparison , I checked the amp draw for 5 secconds and on a very good Fluke meter it bounced between 85-100 amps favoring the 100 mark ,never exceeding 100 , that should give you an idea to work with on real time amp draw , now just determine how many times you need to start your engine as to what capacity reserve you want

were you by any chance able to check pump compression SJ (91 octane/ around 170 #s)?

Well if the amp draw is under 100 amps then an 18 volt dewalt XRP battery pack should work great. I built a cordless heat gun that that uses the dewalt battery pack. And while I was researching my project I found out that a 6 inch cordless circular saw at a bind will draw over 120 amps out of that pack momentairly.

But on the other hand a new walmart battery with 120 cranking amps has a problem starting my 5mm motor but it also runs about 210 psi compression. So I think with as much water as my motor eats I might have to stick with the 10 pound battery.

ETX9. I think is like 6 or 8 lbs ?

I tried a little 4 lbs walmart type, but it would not crank over my 5 mil with 210 compression..

Brent hooked me up with this, and never looked back.. THING ROCKS..
Holds charge, cranks with 210 psi and water in it...:1zhelp:

I recommend. Thanks Brent ! :headbang:

Listen to that bark up.. and im not sponsored by them either..

HMMM... :thinkerg:

There are some batteries out there for choppers that are super light and super powerful. They aren't cheap but if they can crank over a big vtwin with ease 800+cc's should be no sweat. I can't find anywhere that sells them though.

That is one hell of a battery. I don't know if it is worth $300 bucks but that is some impressive numbers for under 1 pound. If he sells them for that price then they have to be somewhere cheaper. Time to get the detective attitude and find it.
