lightweight battery

Xtreme

XTA12A-BS

the company that makes them is called 'Permaseal'

I honestly cant rmember what the CCA's were..there was a chart hanging next to the battery display..

I remember thinking though that the weight savings to CCA's wasnt a horrible loss...

it was right around 70 bucks

Put it to the test this weekend and it cranked for wayyyyyyy longer than I thought it woudl..and that was after having sat for at least a month!

I just ordered an Adventure Power UBX5L-B. 70 CCA, 4 lbs, and 5AH. The stats are better than the walmart battery and the price was less too. Hopefully it will work...

The Good Old Days
I ended up getting a DEKA ETX9 from a local auto parts store for $67.12.
They had the ETX12 there which is rated at 180 CCA's and cost almost the same but was heavier. When we tested it the thing actually had 260 CCA's so I ordered the ETX9 thinking that it would have more than the rated number anyway.
Picked up the battery a few hours later (the store had to get that one in) and did a test on it.
It's rated at 120 CCA's but the tester showed 215 CCA's, should be enough.
DEKA claims the weight is 6.3lbs but the actual weight is 7.1lbs which is still much less than stock.

All that's left is to wait and see how long this thing lasts.

I have been using the little yuasa 4.5lb battery (130cca) with pretty good success so far.... things I have noticed- the battery does not last very long... normally it cranks pretty good, but you run the bilge pump under load for a minute or so it drains it enough to barely turn over.... sometimes it doesn't spin the bendix fast enough to engage... if you press the start button 2 or 3 times it will eventually kick it out though... overall it is working very well.... I have not had it completely die on me yet, but I keep my big yuasa battery in the car just in case.... and the bendix thing does not happen very often...

Well I've tried the Walmart battery and this adventure power battery. I don't know if the Kawi starters use a lot more juice or not but neither can crank my ski fast enough to start it and it only takes about 5-10 seconds of cranking to completely drain them. Guess I'm sticking with my 16 lb Deka tank...

I forgot!
This is a long shot but has anyone tried the Deka ETX9 ?
120 CCA's and 6.3lbs, sounds good.

also, gel v's glass pack. Which is better and why ???

i just got one in at my dealer, i have to go pick it up. i am running it on a total loss, my 5lbs only lasted 45min with multiple starts and no bilge pump with my total loss.
