honestly, if all you were riding was surf I might say go with the FX1.

But for flat water freestyle, the FX is small and not a great platform. To get it to have great bottom end you have to do the pump conversion to a 140-144mm pump. Even then your still back with a small hull. If you plan to do any hood tricks, the pole bracket sticks up way too high, even with a lowered bracket, hard to climb up from the front doing transiton tricks. Riding on the hood, center of gravity is to high and your on a really narrow hull.

There is a reason you never saw but a few ever compete on the FX1. Most that did converted to the SJ after 96.

i was joking when i said get an fx but to be quite honest i think im converted.now when i ride a sj it feels like a tank.i dont do hood tricks so thats a non issue for me. the sj feels like its about a foot too long in the nose and will pearl much easyer than the fx.the downside to this is that once the fx starts to pearl its too late to save it,your going down. the other thing is the high pole mounting on the fx.i love it! it feels like you have more leverage.its hard to put into words but a little body english goes a long way.

on the FX the "High Pivot" bracket is what makes it handle like it does. I think on the SJ the "High Pivot" was a mistake. The design worked well for the FX.

fx is cool but if ross jumped ship and improved on a sj to a whole new level and never went back.......
If the rev had a flat 90 deg dash it would be more of a winner to me. When you are already going to be over 250 running weight, how much diff is 30 pnds really gonna make unless your really good?

ross had lots of reasons for switching to a sj.im pretty sure that the fx sucks wasnt one of them.when your looking for sponsorships from yamaha ect. chances are better when you ride a machine they still sell, lol

Fred (Augustaf) in orlando now, but from your area, has a brand new REV hull in his garage. I can't speak for him, but I think he is 'willing to deal' on it to the right person, ie a va wavejunky. Maybe someone could deliver it to wavedaze for you? Just a thought, pm him if you are interested.

never heard him say it sucked, they are way cool, but his level of performance deff has risen on a sj.guess it just depends on what you want to do with it.
