Freestyle Limits of Stock Hulls, Where to Use $$ for Freestyle Fun

Current setup:
SN Hull with footholds and RN pole, very comfortable setup for me.
All 61x 701 motor with Jetworks ported cylinder, single stock carb
B-Pipe, lightened stock flywheel
Stock pump with Skat Freeride Swirl prop tweaked by JW

I ride 99% "recreational freestyle" lake riding and have a conservative budget.
Is a big bore motor worth it with a stock hull? How far will a BB actually take you, and is it worth it?
Is the money better spent elsewhere?

I would like to hear from those of you who have actually "been there and done that", what would you do?

I'd say a BB is worth it...if it's a ported set (cylinder/cases) on 62t cases/61x cylinder. However then it becomes a tuning issue if you don't buy a complete, ready to drop in setup with dialed in carbs. You'll get just as much bang for your buck (maybe less money) with a TL setup. Other than buying a much larger engine you won't get more of a performance bump than what you get with TL. Been there on both.

I do flatwater primary. I did TL on my old 61x/61x SN before even thinking about a ported engine, bigger carbs, aftermarket hull, or mag pump. Would do it in that order again without hesitation.

I have a BB motor and love it but for the OMG, eye popping power TL makes a bigger difference IMO.

Unless you're trying to perform a certain trick, I feel the SJ is probably the best all around hull for FW F/S. Buy the big motor and try to shed as much weight as you can afford.

Expect whiplash... You will definitely get more snap on your tricks. If you're close to completing some tricks already but can't quite seem to get that last bit, the TL may help. I mean I wouldn't say adding a b pipe or stroker motor expands your range of what the ski can do, it just adds potential when your waves aren't as big.

It sounds like you have already picked most of the low hanging fruit, maybe shorten the hull if needed. From here it gets expensive for what you get.
