Darin, not that it's a problem, but I am using 800x600 screen setting and the windows are all the right size, but the link bar at the top goes way off the edge. I have to scroll right to log off.

Like i said, not a problem , but it doesn't look like it oughta be that way.

Get a bigger monitor.

Ok, ok, yeah, that's one of the thorns in my side on the site, how to have links to everything without cluttering it, and I really don't want to do a left side menu like pwctoday.

How come you log out?

I always just exit the browser. Are we better off actually logging out. :dunno:

If you just exit the browser you stay logged in for some time. I don't know how long, ten minutes maybe. I don't log out if I am just going to check my email or something, but if I am done I always log out. :dunno: habit I guess.

Once I log in, I stay logged in until Darin moves the site again ( :noevil: ) or I delete my cookies. Otherwise, I never have to log back in.

Obviously if you and SFL share a pc, than logging out isn't an option.

Oh man, what a family of geeks!

(I'm on my laptop from work, wife uses the widescreen laptop with Ubuntu Linux, have an extra laptop in a corner in the other room, and the desktop is downstairs)

Back on topic (and to deflect the geek comments), how does this setup work? I tested it in 800x600 and it's better.

I didn't want to scrunch the forums much, so just a simple narrow navigation section on the left.

The cool part: if you use Firefox or IE7, it stays put while you scroll the rest of the page.

darin, im using 600x800 and firefox and everything is okay here. the little linkywindow is staying put on the left.

it just seems like kind of a waste to have 1/5 of the screen dedicated to 9 links.

isnt it possible to have mulitple rows of links at the top instead of a single wide link bar?

not bitchin..... just trying to help

Well, it's one of those things, the people on IE6 aren't going to see the benefit because it doesn't stay in place for them, it scrolls up with the rest of the page and then you have white space which is wasted.

On IE7 and Firefox, it's used space, and those are the current browsers most people use. If someone out there on a Mac can let me know, does the menu on the left scroll down in Safari?

what was wrong with two menu bars on the top?

things on the side just waste space and make the forums smaller
