Lithium batteries with OEM charging system???

Hi Guy,
How many of you now lithium batteries with an OEM yamaha charging system?

Want to run one with my DASA 1200 and Yamaha stock electrics.

In the early days read about them catching fire etc... Is this safe to use now as they as so bloody light.

they certainly have more potential for an issue for a lead acid however in my opinion it is the only option in a freestyle ski. Seal around the terminals and any seams when it is brand new, and use a quality lithium specific charger and you will be fine.

They aren't designed to withstand the charge that comes back to them from oem ignition. It will likely affect the longevity of the battery. I'm sure some will say they work great and last forever with oem ignition and others will tell you they died and wouldn't take a charge anymore in record time. It's a gamble.

I've been gambling with it on charging electrics. Not sure if this helps, but I've been just leaving my bilge pump on while riding to try and counteract the charging. Pretty sure its changing nothing, but helps me feel better about it. :p

I've been running anti gravity with oem, they work, but i've found I need to do a charge with my charger every 4-5 rides (days not each time I go out). and that helps. It seems it doesn't charge them well enough in my experience.

Interesting and and I was wondering too...and took a gamble the other day and grabbed that NOCO 9 for 69.99.

Not a bad gamble really.
