Lithium batteries with total loss

wow this sounds like a nice idea for keeping this kinda battery alive longer in a ski,how much better sealed are they? if the charging mang elecs get the tinyest bit of water in them they are done.

The earthx need to be sealed around the terminals. I only sealed mine along the seam, which I guess isn't really needed, I didn't think to seal around the terminals. Mine lasted a few months until I had my starter go out on me in havasu and I had to swim it to shore which took about 20 min. My trim tube was letting water in, flooded my ski and I must have got water in the battery because at the end of the next day at body beach my battery wouldn't start my ski any more. I sent it in for warranty, the inspected it and got back to me right away saying it failed due to water intrusion. They sent me a new battery with no hassle at all and it's been good ever since.

I've had some experience with the earthx battery. Ordered one right after finals because I liked the looks of the ones I saw there. The first two I used were the "C" case model and they both failed fast due to some some major water intrusion. After inspecting further, you could see right inside the battery at the seam. One side definitely wasn't welded up right. They were quick to tell me I must be doing something wrong as they had never seen them die due to water ingestion and I had killed two so quickly. After they received and inspected them they sent me a replacement immediately in the "B" case, saying they they had found a problem in the way they were sealing up the "C" cases and were working to fix it. They hoped to have new ones ready by spring.
All in all they seam like an honest company and so far are happy to help with the issues we're having.

Look maaaan ( insert gorge therogood ) My lipo battery is kinda funny..... I know , now you funny too....

I'm have a hard time being sold ......and a REALLY want to be sold. I keep reading " no trouble other than them failing " . Not to mention having to ship them back for another and swimming your ski in (if your close enough to the shore).

It seems water ingestion is the main culprit . Nun seem to be lasting long enough to see how they last with continual charge / discharge cycles. I do know PHP worked with or somehow advised ballistic on the matter and say the ingestion problem is resolved .

I have decided to cram a jet works in mine. Art does carry a smaller jet works version . It's the same foot print just shorter at 8 lbs ish pounds. I think after this post my mind is made up . O did I mention it's 200 + dollars less. In short when I'm at 8 % body fat I might consider re visiting a 3 pound battery.

I'm O sportfishilly over it. I'm going traditional thanks for the thread .

Earthx is coming out with a new case in the next 3-4 weeks that is completely sealed. I have always just put a dab of silicone or dap around the terminals and the pinhole at the bottom without ever an issue. These guys are awesome to deal with. I have wrecked every battery on the market so far and this one is holding its ground. Last year I spent over 2g on batteries between my 3 skis. I took a shot at earthx near the end of the season and very happy that I did. They actually promote it with total loss over charging systems. Lithiums are without doubt the way to go if you remember 3 key things:

Don't completely kill your battery and continue to try and start it hoping it might fire up
Don't over charge your lithium again and again thinking you might get an extra 10% out of it
Don't try starting your ski 10 times in a minute.

These are common sense things that destroys any battery lithium or not.
