I'm pretty new to this but I want to learn. I have a 2000 SJ and for my first mod ordered a B-pipe, should be here at the end of the week. I want to put it on but I'm not sure if I "need" to order anything else for it to work properly. Can I take off the old, install the new and ride? I'm sure at a minimum some tweeking needs to be done.

Thanks for the help!

The carbs must be rejected as well as the cooling needs rerouted. You should not need anything else as the kit comes with all parts needed.
Thanks! Not to be an idiot but the more I think about this the more I realize how much I don't know. Does that mean I need to buy a new carburetor, or can I adjust the stock one?

No. You open up the carburetor and replace the jets inside of it.
Thanks! I just found a you tube video of how to do it. Now I just need to figure out what size jets I need and where to start the adjustments when I get it put back together.

Check out the faq section of the forum and read through the 2 dozen or so threads. That will give you a great overview of the complete ski as well as I dividual things like carbs.

I had to make a wrench to install the two top inner bolts. I used a sheet metal wrench from an atv kit and ground the sides.

You dont have to, but its not a bad idea to leak test your motor and clean your carbs when installing a pipe from stock. Stock is very mild and if you have a tiny restriction or air leak its no big deal. Slap on a pipe and a head and a tiny air leak can become a huge problem.

Ideally ypu should use a popoff tester when you change your popoff.

Any chance we can just adjust the high and low speeds on the factory carb? If not, is it worth changing the jets or would a new carb be a better consideration?

No, you need to rejet. I thought someone said above that the jetscome with the pipe but mine came from jetworks and i did not get jetting with mine. I bought my jets from jetmaniac.

Stock jetting on a superjet is 70/130 @ 52psi
Many people run the b-pipe at 75/135 @ 42psi
Bad boys racing has my limited at 75/140@18psi. My boat runs amazing, but it can load up some in heavy surf and fouls plugs more often because it is so rich in the mid range, but it can held wot indefinately.

I dont think you should change carbs on a stock motor unless money is no object to you. Larger carbs will yield little results and burn tons more fuel. It is an option, but lots of us stock motor guys run stock 38s with stock airbox because the minor benefits of the am filters or largercarbs do not justify more water ingestion and more fuel consumption.

Thanks for the input vumad! Does it make a difference if I am running the Mod instead of the limited? I saw another post that was close to your recommendation but on the factory pipe site they say 145 Main and 120 Pilot. The conflicting info is making me wonder what I really need to get...sorry

When i say limited, i am talking about IJSBA racing class, pipe, head, prop, etc. I myself have a mod chamber on my limited superjet. Techniqually im not a limited anymore, because my lightened flywheel is not allowed in the class, but the term limited still easily describes my setup.
