does it idle fine in the water? what do the plugs look like? put 2 new ones in and go ride it for about 20 minutes then look. i had a problem with mine, the idle was a tad low and when i let off to get back on it it was almost trying to die, then pick back up. so i turned the idle up a tad, i probably "covered up" the problem more so than fixing it. but it idles correctly in the water and responds correctly, so i left it.

Idles fine! I put new plugs in July but that didn't seem to help, but it's doing exactly what you described. I'll try turning the idle up and see what happens this weekend.

If it ran well before this there is no need to start turning mixture screws. Check internal and external fuel filters.

Ironic. Been chasing that problem for a little while now, changing plugs, adjusting carbs, checking pop off... When I finally pulled the carbs to check popoff I found a mountain of debris outside the internal fuel filter and a completely clog fuel filter. Ski ran great once that got blasted out :).

This is very true, if it was fine then started this and there has not been a rapid change in water temp. then it very well could be a filter issue.
regardless the fuel sounds restricted, if you go 1/4 turn out and it persists then check all the above mentioned. It was not mentioned if it were a new build or new to him boat or a problem that just started.

Started when I pulled the ski out in May, actually it was worse and has gotten better. I thought it might be bad gas but I stabilized the gas (winterized the whole ski) at the end of last year. Thought the carbs might need cleaning.
