SXR Looking at a used SXR, what was stock compression?

Hello all,

I'm looking at an '09 SXR tonight and will likely buy it if it's as nice as the owner claims.

Supposedly 100% stock.

My question is what was the stock compression at sea level for the '09?

Also any other obvious flaws to look for?

Stock compression can range from 150-175psi.

I am thinking my 04 SXR was in the 165-170 range. Racers use to buy up used heads to see if they could find some that gave more compression than others. Then they changed the rules in stock class to where you could run different thickness base gaskets and head gaskets. There were some crazy combos. Big open track they would put a thicker base with a thin head gasket. Faster motor with higher compression. Thinner base with thicker head to give more bottom end but keep the compression in the pump gas range. So many combos!

heck,all the ones i've had from 2004 to 2011 had 175 to 185 stock at sea level after break in.

Good info. I have been looking at some SXR and as stated folks put them back and claim they are stock.
