Looking for 2 SJs. How much to ship a ski?

I am new to this site and really dig it. I finally got rid of my 93 SJs and am looking for more current and reliable SJs. I have a 12k budget. I live in SoCal and have been looking through this site for skis to buy. I have found a few that catch my interest but they are not local. Dose anyone know how to calculate the price for shipping a SJ?
I am also looking for 2 skis for the 12k budget. The perfect case would be 2012 and newer with a few mods. Thing like a pipe, filters, prop, ride plate, and maybe a shortened pole. Again, this is the perfect case. Most of my riding will be on lakes but they will hit the surf a few times a year also. If you have any recommendations I would like to hear about them.
Thank you in advance.

One last question. What is the differences between a freestyle ski and a non freestyle ski? Is a freesytle ski terrible for running buoys?

You can get a ski shipped anywhere in the lower 48 for ~$300 or less. Chances are you could get both shipped for 400 or 500.

The somewhat standardized breakdown is

Racing Skis = Buoys
Freeride = Surf / licoriceing about
Freestyle = flatwater / licoriceing about

If you are serious about racing buoys then you will most likely want a ski setup for that. They tend to be heavier (many have lead plates installed under the motor) and focus more on mid/high end. As opposed to freeride/freestyle which are lighter and usually focus on bottom and mid power.

That helps me out. Thank you for your response.
I would be looking at freeride in this case and not actual racing buoys. Just an occasional lake buoy session.
When someone ships a ski who crates it up?

Freeride is the best of everything Imo, I would consider a Round nose like you want with all the bolt ons a freeride ski. Can do everything fairly well. As for crates that's between the seller and you. Some sellers will crate at your expense, some will offer to crate for free, some will tell you to arrange shipping and crating yourself and they will drop the skis off at the freight site.
