You can change the steering nozzle on most trim systems if you prefer a metal nozzle.

Pat at xmetal runs a modified a/m (protec?) metal steering nozzle on his own xmetal trim system. Metal nozzles are stronger and can offer more throw and other benefits, but if you ride in shallow water alot, then I prefer a plastic nozzle to break off and save my trim system. I usually have an extra in my truck and then right back on the water.

I have seen guys running metal nozzles at the beach break their metal reduction nozzles where the trim ring bolts up.

It will be OK. Ive had one on for the past 3 years and still the original cable. I do have to say, im surprised because that thing sure does take a ton of preasure even at idle speeds.

R u running the blowsion trim setup? Thanks man! I took my first ride yesterday with it all setup and it is a very fun lever to play with.... still getting use to it. But your right, I need to do some grip exercises because that is not the easiest lever to pull! Only time will tell i guess?

the blowsion cable breaks if you have it connected so that it bends when the nozzle moves up when your not pulling the lever,it fixable but still not as nice as the thrust setup.we have them both inside our group.5200 the bushing spacers in either one and it will have less slop for much longer

I know I'm kinda jumpin in here, but
The XMetal is Electropolished 304 Stainless Steel
( electropolish process ) http://www.all-bright.com/index.html ( a little gig I started 13 years ago :)
Its not going to wear like aluminum and it will not fail.
Not a single failed part including cables, that includes the prototypes
Easiest to install
as much throw as all available systems, more throw available with a little massaging
All parts work perfect for CAT systems
Parts are very reasonably priced, and backed with the standard lifetime XS guarantee
the trim ring is a much tighter transition for the water which is a gain in torque.
When fully activated, there are zero gaps for precise water deflection
This is not just another trim system its The ultimate trim system.

I've had the wammer trim on my boat for the last 4 years (running a stroker) and its still on the original cable! - Quality product with tons of throw up and down whilst still keeping full left and right throw (hits hull either side)
