looking for a place to move

does anyone live in an area or know of an area that is...

1- extremely rural (i mean like banjo's and chit playin in the evening)
2- IS CLOSE TO DECENT RIDING ( surf preffered)
3- has nice weather (preferably no snow but once or twice a year is acceptable)
4- does not have a nursing home or ghetto mall anywhere near
5- has jobs no more than an hour away (i know the ecconomy sucks and most places dont have jobs)

im really getting sick and tired of the area i live. more and more trash keeps migrating to the city i live in spreading their urban lifestyle around. the school system sucks and there are so many old people around that its virtually imposible to go anywhere on the weekend. i need to find a nice place to move and i dont care where.

Sounds like you should move to South Texas, lol. No jobs though, except the refineries or federal jobs which pay good if you get picked up.

well, I live 30 miles south of Buffalo, NY...

1. pretty rural - I'm on 7 acres and there are 260 acres of woodland behind me. Lots of farmland, woods and fields.
2. lake erie is a mile from my house.
3. no go on the snow... we get more than I like - but great skiing/snowboarding within a hour from here.
4. 30 minutes to a mall... just local mom and pop stores in the area.
5. the job market is weak. been unemployed for 9 months now. looks like I may be going back to work within the next two weeks though.

all in all, it's a cool place to live. I'd prefer to be able to ride all year, but what can ya do.

One thing to consider though, taxes... they suck here in NY.

Good luck bro...

NY sounds decent. the only bad thing is NY is very anti gun, and i like my toys if ya know what i mean

south texas would be nice too. at least i could shoot to protect property.

smurfer...you should look at southern Ga. South of me too. I'd look at Valdosta, Ga. It's rural as hell, plenty of access to the gulf and atlantic. More than an hour for both, but you could live to be within an hour of one and 2-3 to the other or split the diff and be 2 to both. Jobs are available. Depends on what you do, but industry seems to like the south. Weather is great. I left Ohio 14 years ago and haven't missed it once (weatherwise). I've seen snow flurries less than 10 times and only seen snow accumulate twice (less than an inch). Guns are welcome in Ga and plenty of idiots to be shot with them too. Now, I live in Macon and there's plenty of ghetto here but you just move to one side of the city or the other. I ride fresh water on a small lake I live on, but could get to the gulf in 5 and Atlantic in 3.

Of course Crab beat me to it.... Grays Harbor is the armpit of Washington... Mild rainy winters, with decent weather the rest of the time.. Snows here maybe once a year.. Jobs are there if you look, you can ride all year long- surf, lakes, and rivers.. Its rural here.. Main industry is Logging, but its dying.. There are alot of newer opportunites coming about and in the process of starting.. We just became a main export hub for Chrysler, the military, heavy equip, and more.. Its close to alot of good riding and all the fancy malls and stuff, but you can live as rural as you want or as citified as you want.. check out www.visitgraysharbor.com and the website to our annual Freeride comp www.graylandopen.com fyi- from where I live just east of Aberdeen I am 45 min to Olympia, 90 min on a good day to Seattle, 2hrs to Portland.. Tierra Del Mar where the Blowsion surf slam is at is about 3.5hrs away from me..

And three hours to my front door......

i take it your in college? University of TN. we get snow 2-3 times a year, there are many gun law loop holes ;), the riding spots are great and if you want to live in a rural area, you can drive ten minutes into the mountains. seems to fit the bill of what your looking for pretty good.

TN is swamped now and Alabama is getting crapped on by Oil...so I'd wait a little bit before you go to those places! JMO

Look at the Oregon Coast. You could be in the coastal range backwoods, reasonably close to Portland (or anywhere near the I-5 corridor) and all the jobs that has to offer. You'd also be very close to surf. Not much snow in the coastal range, but if you do want snow, Mt Hood is less than two hours away.

I'm working on moving there.

i like Texas, i havent heard anything good about the surf(i live to far to find out for myself) jobs dont seem like they are that hard to find right now but idk, i aint had to look yet.

and guns are easy...chl's and castle doctrine seem to work good, no pesky mag limits, and as long as you dont live in one of the huge cities you can get cleo signature for class 3's!

Not sure what your specialty is for work or if you have one but Robins Air Force Base is hiring civilians for most things and they're the 3rd largest employers in the state with 19,000 jobs with most being civilians. Contracting and program management is needed right now and there are always maintenance jobs. I work on base as an engineer and it's about 35 minutes away for me with a low stress drive into work everyday.

I'm with pabloescobar in Macon, GA and we're in a pretty decent area but just about everything in the southeast has a ghetto or low class mall within 15-20 minutes of it. You just don't go there... and it's pretty easy to figure out that you drove a little too far and are now in a less than desirable area.

im a cnc machinist. i do all the cad/cam work and make programs settup's and all the general cnc BS in a small machine shop. oh i also do most all of maintinance if stuff breaks down. but to be totally honest i dont care what kind of work i would get into. im plannin my wedding in daytona after the ride and then im selling the womans condo and getting the he11 outa here. so im not in a big rush but i need to staret getting ideas.

As others have said Coastal WA/OR are good. Anywhere from Olympia, WA down to Portland, maybe even Salem, and West. That puts you 1-3 hours from some good events.

Find out what machine shop Blowsion uses and see about working for them (or do they do everything in house?). We need an insider. :sneaky:
