Super Jet looking for group K bb 785 reviews.

/\ that.
im never gonna have $3500 for a dasa.so im considering alternatives.the group k BB 785 looks very tantalizing for $1800.just wondering if anyone has any feedback on this motor or can tell me anythin about it.ive read group k's literature about this motor and they claim it to be equivelent to other BB stokers or PV motors.basically wondering if the power is really what it claims to be.i dont see many threads about this engine at all.is there a reason for that?

1. It's expensive compared to big bore kits other builders offer.
2. GroupK isn't exactly known for getting the most power out of setups.
3. I read the article on the site. He claims equivalency in speed only.
4. I'd go with someone else. You can easily get a big bore kit for that money.

yep.thats the one. upon closer reading of the modifcations,he kinda contradicts himself because he says he needs alot of meat in the cylinder to accomodate the large bb sleves.then further on down he says he has kept the sleeve wall thickness to a bare minimum because of the transfer ports not providing enough fuel mixture.so then it says because of the thin sleeves, there is not alot of meat that has to be bored.im sure he knows what hes doing.it just struck me as odd that he would say he needs alot of meat in the cylinder then he says not alot of meat has to be bored because of the thin sleeves.?????????after that read,i think im gonna go dfferent route.

Unfortunately you are just the latest person to hit the wall of reality in this sport: there is no standard measure of one engine package to another package. Freestyle and freeride are not about something measurable such as horsepower, it is all about "how it hits." Most people can only get on a few different setups in person and even then there is the variation in setups (pumps, props, hulls, carb tuning, much etc.). I read as many posts as I could, as many websites as possible, and finally closed my eyes and bought something from someone on the X who has a good rep and a lot of posts. Group K has been around a long time (which is great), but for some reason not many freestylers seem to run their stuff. Maybe there's your answer right there.(?) X-scream, Jetmaniac, Jetworks--- I hear them mentioned a lot. Maybe everyone is wrong or maybe everyone has already done the research for you. In the end it's your boat, your time on the water, and your money. Good luck.

It's all in the components that are bolted onto it such as good carbs etc and how well it is set up . I own 2 group k big bore hammers and they are very strong. Pulled 2 holeshots at Myrtle beach in Gp ski with it this past summer and holes hotted every moto in vets open at colonial beach against all kinds of fast skis. Now I've been lucky enough to have picked up a couple of Dasa motors I'm thinking about selling one of the hammer motors. They have been bulletproof .

I have to agree with what most have already said, Group K mart builds a very reliable motor, just not the strongest or cheapest. I am a poster child for Jetworks aka BlackJack Performance aka Art Gomez because Art has taken VERY good care of me and my wallet. IF it were me, and it's not, I would call Art and say I have X amount of dollars to spend-what can you do for X amount of dollars. I have done that with my Lamey from day 1. I had 1 engine builder build my Lamey on my budget and later sent it to Art for the "magic touch" again on my budget and I have been very pleased. These guys all want to sell you the max pkg but they do understand that not everyone has 15K to spend on a ski. Call em up and talk to them-they don't bite.

X2 ... Sometimes I think Art is more worried about spending my money wisely than I am !!!!

Oversize liners, pistons, porting , and head work should not exceed $1200. If you dont need it to be super snappy a ported 62T cyl will make just as much power for half the price.

Ride your current set up save up and do right. I personally went with dasas 846 ss kit to avoid the cost of a billet crank.

^^^What he says^^^

IF, and I repeat IF you think you are going to want more and more and more, then save your money and don't make the same mistakes we have all made!!! The mistakes we have all made are very expensive. I have 18,000.00 tied up in a 98 round nose with a Lamey 5 mil and all the good stuff to go with it. I spent 14,500.00 of that money learning the hard way. I now look back and realize that if done wisely-I could be on a SuperFreak w/a DASA 1100 motor for the same 18k.
Don't get me wrong-the learning curve has been fun and I would not know 1/2 what I now know had I not gone thru it-but it dam sure was expensive. Riding the bandwagon on the X will help keep your wallet light and you always wanting more.

x2 to that!i actually have experience with art at jetworks.he rebuilt my blackjacks and tuned em.i literally just had to install em and thats it.ok so i think have decided to delete group K from my freestyle build option list.as stated above,i really dont need more poer cause all i wanna do is roll, but the X makes it soooo addicting,i just have to see if i can get more out of my cylinder.at the time Group K was my choice.ok so heres what i got. 61x cylinder with 62t bottom bran new crank.cylinder is 83mm supposedly ported by Lamey.R&D pro series head.220psi.now i know group K wont touch my cylinder because it had already been worked.just wondering if art will be able to punch BB sleeves in it or if I will have to start with a fresh one?my current setup probably only has about 10 hours on it.i defiantley want him to cut some new domes so i dont keep having to buy AV100 gas.right now i have about $5000 in my 98 RN. looking for BB ($1200) Thrust 12vein stator($500)hooker9/17($250)and one of those fancy nozzles from ATP($200) so by next season im in it for over $7000:ugh2:

I know Art's preffered package is a oem cylinder 61X package he does and I ride one of them fairly regular. You ride the ski and assume there is a 10,000.00 engine under the hood and all you see is 62T cases, 61X cylinders and a ADA girdled head and you then say WTF is that? Art can make a 61X scream!
