BuMotor:
Jetworks was recommended to me by a good friend. I used Art & Robert's services to get a cylinder bored and was extremely impressed by their customer service, prices, and that they didn't steer me towards buying stuff I didn't need.
A year later I took the plunge and ordered a big bore engine from them. Again, they didn't try to sell me stuff I didn't need. Quite the opposite, they squeezed the most possible from a stock cylinder.
Since then, I compared my setup against shinier, bigger, and more expensive setups built by competitors and remain completely satisfied with my choice.
That's why I use Jetworks and will continue to do so for all my motor/driveline needs.
Besides, I have come to call Art up during the week and just chat. He's gotten to be quite the buddy. :veryhappy:
*Note: There isn't anything wrong with other companies. I just picked the best fit for me.
Hull:
I had wanted an aftermarket hull for a while because my RN was starting to show its age. After Zack lawn-darted it
biggrin
, I had the perfect excuse I needed. I wanted a light hull with different geometry than the Superjet. I ride mostly on flatwater, so that gave me searching some direction.
Ultimately, I settled on Berky's Superfreak hull because I wanted to get the best possible quality at the most reasonable expense. Berky was the only one I could think of, given the criteria. I also considered Norbert, but regretfully those hulls are a bit out of my budget range.
What else is there? Here was my thought process:
Stunt Hull - No thanks.
BOB - nice, but not my cup of tea. Just not right for me.
WDK - no thanks.
Rickter - came in as a close second. Ultimately, I felt that the hulls were too heavy for how expensive they are. Some seem to suffer from quality issues. Not downing them, don't get me wrong - one of these hulls would have been my second in line.
XFT and Lenzi seem to be good quality, but I didn't want to deal overseas.
Watercraft Factory - Nothing wrong with Steve's stuff, just not what I was after.
Trinity - was also on my list.
In the end, the Superfreak seemed to be the best fit for my personal riding style.
Miscellaneous: Blowsion and Watcon are my local go-to guys for whatever else I need. No one does more for the scene than the guys at Blowsion. They put on killer events and do a lot of stuff behind the scenes that many people never realize.
Watcon is great because it's Randy. He's one of the last good ol' guys left. He gives his last shirt to help people out, and he's always helping people wrench on the beach.
Plus, he's got the most random stuff laying around.
