Other Looking for honest feedback...Who/What do you use and want and why?

I know this is kind of a nebulous question, but I am really interested to know who you guys buy from and why. And what you guys are looking for.

Does everyone want an aftermarket hull? Why? Which one?

Motor wise, are you guys only building 1000cc PV motors?

Who don't you buy from and why?

What have I missed that you are looking for?

My thoughts and plans are changing a little, but I would really like to know what you guys think.

I know this thread has the potential to go negative really quickly, and I would really appreciate if it doesn't. So please don't anyone take anything personally that may be said...

I think you're missing a 0.

But to answer your question, I buy from the companies that have good customer service, actually want to help the industry instead of get rich from it, and whoever is down to help out the cause. Obviously, my sponsors would be the first ones to buy products from, but if none of them have what I need, I tend to talk with Hot Products because I know they have pretty much everything. I've purchased most of my parts through my parents shop, The Ski Clinic, and have also bought quite a few things from TBM Racing and RRP.

Motor wise, I'll only use X-Metal. Mainly because Pat is a really cool guy, and he definitely knows what he's doing. Not saying that DASA, or any of his other competitors don't, but Pat has helped us out quite a bit, and my 865 is plenty of power for me.

Jetworks was recommended to me by a good friend. I used Art & Robert's services to get a cylinder bored and was extremely impressed by their customer service, prices, and that they didn't steer me towards buying stuff I didn't need.
A year later I took the plunge and ordered a big bore engine from them. Again, they didn't try to sell me stuff I didn't need. Quite the opposite, they squeezed the most possible from a stock cylinder.
Since then, I compared my setup against shinier, bigger, and more expensive setups built by competitors and remain completely satisfied with my choice.
That's why I use Jetworks and will continue to do so for all my motor/driveline needs.
Besides, I have come to call Art up during the week and just chat. He's gotten to be quite the buddy. :veryhappy:
*Note: There isn't anything wrong with other companies. I just picked the best fit for me.

Hull:
I had wanted an aftermarket hull for a while because my RN was starting to show its age. After Zack lawn-darted it :)biggrin:), I had the perfect excuse I needed. I wanted a light hull with different geometry than the Superjet. I ride mostly on flatwater, so that gave me searching some direction.
Ultimately, I settled on Berky's Superfreak hull because I wanted to get the best possible quality at the most reasonable expense. Berky was the only one I could think of, given the criteria. I also considered Norbert, but regretfully those hulls are a bit out of my budget range.
What else is there? Here was my thought process:
Stunt Hull - No thanks.
BOB - nice, but not my cup of tea. Just not right for me.
WDK - no thanks.
Rickter - came in as a close second. Ultimately, I felt that the hulls were too heavy for how expensive they are. Some seem to suffer from quality issues. Not downing them, don't get me wrong - one of these hulls would have been my second in line.
XFT and Lenzi seem to be good quality, but I didn't want to deal overseas.
Watercraft Factory - Nothing wrong with Steve's stuff, just not what I was after.
Trinity - was also on my list.

In the end, the Superfreak seemed to be the best fit for my personal riding style.

Miscellaneous: Blowsion and Watcon are my local go-to guys for whatever else I need. No one does more for the scene than the guys at Blowsion. They put on killer events and do a lot of stuff behind the scenes that many people never realize.
Watcon is great because it's Randy. He's one of the last good ol' guys left. He gives his last shirt to help people out, and he's always helping people wrench on the beach.
Plus, he's got the most random stuff laying around.

are you building something for yourself or interested in seeing what people want?

i would think you have the chance to try anything you want to see what you like, so are you in the market to start up something?

People I like and why
Thrust Innovations-perfect track record and great customer service and very fair pricing.
JetWorks-I can't say enough.
615Freeride.com-Again, I cant' say enough.
Paul Lehr-opened doors for me and keeps me motivated.

People I don't like and why
Blowsion-communication is lacking and they never ship all items at 1 time.

I do want a aftermarket hull for 99% flatwater and at the moment Berky is my only choice due to great communication, he is on the same coast I am and reputation.

I appreciate the feedback so far, and am looking forward to seeing more.

JunkyardDj, I'm more curious than anything else... I have had the chance to try lots of different setups, hulls, etc. I have a pretty good sense of what works for me. But I am interested to find out what works for other guys. I don't have any interest in building hulls or anything like that.

I was lookin for some girdle hardware for my blowsion head. I called randy at watcon and he referred me to kommanderi called them and was overly impressed with their customer service. Not only was the hardware half the price of blowsion but it was by far the highest quality stainless hardware I have ever seen.shipping was super quick too. I think the guy I dealt with was scott? He even emailed me pics of it. They threw in an extra case bcoupler bolt too. Packing was the best and they even threw in a wetracer too. I even got a courtesy call when my package was shipped. I think alot of these companies can learn something about pleasing a customer from kommander

I agree with all of the above and would like to add Thrust Innovations to that list. Brian has served me very well over the last few years and builds skis the same way I do so he understands my needs very well.

Hull - Gotta be a Trinity. His quality is second to none with uncompromising attention to detail. Bobby will make you wait for a hull but it will be worth it in the end.

Engine - X-Scream, my SS865 should do me for quite a few more years but my TLR ported engine is a very close second. There are so many good names in engine building business it would be hard to single any one out.

Pump/impellor - Impros all the way, always has been always will be. Dave has earned that priveledge more than anyone else I have ever dealt with to date.

Electrical - JSS for Stators, coils and start/stops. Everything else I do myself. John is a wealth of knowledge and is a great resource for a ton of little things as well.

Steering/handpole/turf - Thrust Innovations, basically any new or custom hard parts i need i get from Brian. He has the best service and the best prices. When Wamiltons hasn't answered their phone, Brian has gone over personally and picked up parts for me and kept me on schedule.

Small and used parts - Jetmaniac, Chris is the man for all things used and now renewable parts as well. His inventory is ever growing and his customer service is second to none.

Lots of little guys starting up now too, myself included. It's good to see the little guy getting a piece of the action.

ive had really good luck with jetmaniac for pretty much any little nick nak out, custumer service from jetworks is second to none and XS for top of the the line motors if $ is not object.. i have also been really impressed with all ATP stuff as well as thrust

im a bang for the buck guy and i like to stick with the guys that will stand behind there stuff and help you out when you need it..

as far as hulls go i think im the last guy on the planet that still likes a rn hull but the rickter was pretty pimpin too

I deal with: XScream, Chris,(Jet-M), Tem,(Berky), # Zero, have bought from Tom21 and some used aftermarket mods from guys on here with good results...I wish there was a bigger market of light, slim, stronger handlepoles that use a spring (like a Xmetal pole shape but made of strong composite) (dreaming again sorry)...I may one day try the Xmetal with a spring set up...

My home away from home.
I'm a budgeting flatwater guy so my answers reflect that.

Hull. I love my rn (that is getting chopped this winter), but if I could have anything it would be Berky's new hull for the same reasons Matt_E listed. Also interested in a lenz1one.

Motor. Art at Jetworks has been excellent to talk with as have the guys at xscream. This winter is already sucking the cash out of me, so I don't know what i'm doing for a motor (I think my crank is done and god knows what else). I want a smaller stroker around 850cc's but need to research more and get some friggin cash back first. Getting ahold of Jetmaniac on motor options some time soon too as he's been nothing short of the best to deal with.

Where do I shop. Mainly members of the X, but have used Xmetal, Blowsion, Watcon, Jetworks, JSS, FP... There are lots of great vendors here on the X I mainly deal with Jetmaniac, Hardcore, 615freeride, and more. I buy a lot of used parts, because they have been affordable, reliable and keep me on the water.

I'm giving Thrust a chance with my DASA rebuild. He really took care of me when my pipe failed.

Art at Jetworks is always happy to give away free nformation. It amazes me. I feel bad taking up his time.

DASA offers a heck of a motor. It took me a while to dial it in, but the results were better than the other guys 1000cc motor, plus I really took pride in the amount of work I put into it.

Team scream was great with me when i was buying my motor i talked to Pat for a long time, and Chuck has answered many questions for me since, even when im looking to swap out some Team Scream product

Jim at Atlantic Jet sports has always been awesome with me

Chris and Lisa at AirTime Products are amazing, i think Chris is like Art you can talk to him for hours and learn a million thngs, plus he wont sell you something you dont need, i have called him before with a plan on what i have wanted and he has old be better ways of getting a bang for my buck and power.. in many cases talking me out of buying stuff! you dont get that often

Jetmaniac and Sjetrider are great, while ive been setting up the canadian freestyle venture they have both been very supportive

I like the Glass work that Jeff at WDK does, just a shame about his reputation cos he could be alot more dominate in our sport

Now i have started distributing ATP and other products in Canada i hope i can give back and support not only local rides but some of the ride in the states too

I buy from people I have met and/or ridden with at freerides mostly. Waterdawg.....met him and saw his stuff....then later when I need a hull I ordered one.

Met Paul at Daytona and rode Niagara with him and he gets all my motor work/referrals.

Then just the usuals...factory for pipes....MSD for enhancers (EPIC next)....JSS for electrics.....WDK for steering.....IMPROS for pump work...whatever the latest greatest head is (ADA now)......random stuff (like throttles, cables, nuts, bolts) I usually just hit up RIVA or someone with a OEM parts finder built in to the site. I think a OEM parts finder with the ability to order OE stuff and whatever the site is selling is great.

I have the stunt hull and although I'm happy now, I will never deal with Highroller again. I also won't deal with WDK either. Both have continuously screwed over their customers. If enough people start talking about their great products and customer service, I'll consider them again but until then, absolutely not.

As for hulls. I never liked the look of the Rickters and hate the footholds. I love the superfreak hulls but they're out of my price range right now. I've talked to Berky and felt he was very knowledgeable. The guys I ride with have dealt with him and everything I've heard from them reassures me that Berky is the guy I'd want to deal with. Jetmaniac is a cool guy as well. I haven't bought any turn key motors but Paul Lehr has treated us very well even though we've never bought anything from him so I'd have a hard time not going with him.

XScream...When I ordered my first motor they had it in my hands assembled in 2 weeks. Perfect customer service, very patient with my stupid questions never rushed me on the phone. I plan on buying from them again very soon.
