I had a great time this year, which is awesome because I had very low hopes for a good time (i have almost no ride time in the last 8 months, zero in the last 2). I was able to put in about 2 hours on my wife's SXR, which wasn't quite the 8 I got on my SJ last year, but I did manage 3 test rides.
I didn't get the opportunity to try
@fusion1977 superfreak or
@madscientist 701 powered X2 because I started to get symptomatic and quit while I was ahead. I do however appreciate those offers.
It was cool to try
@djkorn1 lightweight -2 SXR with wet pipe. It felt just like my wife's SXR, but turned sharper, and despite having a few less powerplant upgrades, it was actually more responsive. I didn't get to try his surf strap since the more rear position put a lot of load on my back.
@zimmy Viper was an amazing ride. It had the TPE 964 with a PFP and epic. It was the most powerful ski I have ridden. It was an exceptional surf ski. Even with it's huge size it handled the surf very well. It was big enough to be extremely stable and jump very well, but at the same time ride very nose high down the face of a wave.
@Little_Franny Predator put a smile on my face from ear to ear that is permanently stuck there. The ski was set up perfect for the kind of riding I like to do. I would love to have one of my own. I had not considered a ski that much shorter than my superjet, but it's width made it very stable. Combined that with a tight pole bolt and front toe hold, and my back was feeling pretty great when I got off of it.
3 very different set ups that were all very enjoyable. If money were no object, I would be seriously looking into a Krash, Rickter, or something similar. However, it is an issue and I can not afford a setup like that. I think I might look into a B1 setup, since I can probably find a complete ski I can put my new motor in for under $1000. I have the composite skills to work over my superjet, so maybe rather than selling it, I'll modify it into a surf boat. I'm undecided but have a better idea of what I really want now.
Thanks again for all the support everyone. I had a great time.
