It's not even me defending what I ride. I like diversity and seeing different people enjoy different setups. If everyone had the same setup as me nobody would ever evolve and there would be no point in trying other skis. The tray is narrower and shorter than my Superfreak was but only by a couple inches each way. So it may have been foothold location rather than actual tray size you didn't like. Could have been pole length, I don't know maybe everything about the hull just wasn't to your liking and that's fine too. I'm 6'2" tall with size 12 feet and have no issues.
OP: I've seen a lot of bashing on the Backie Chan too but that's a fun hull. Just make sure you form your own opinions rather than basing all your knowledge on the opinions typed out on this site.

I agree totally but just my instant opinion was I feel way too cramped up. Just was enough to determine its not for me. I mean anyone can spend tons of time on X hull to get use to it. Maybe that's what I woulda needed. I'm your same exact size lol. But that's also good proof of personal preference there.

Referring to everyone that fits the bill. I'm honest about it, like TDR's Im a fanboy yeah. you see it a lot when someone doesn't like what someone else has they get mad and wanna convince people. Lots of arguing on here along those lines. As for your Chan bashing comment, pretty sure it was only about the quality and delivery.

I know you were referring to me, just wanted you to admit it. I think I made it clear that I don't care if everyone likes an Aquabot and I want other people to be on totally different setups for diversity. Sorry you read my statements the way you wanted to. I know if I came on here hyping up any WDK and said not to listen to the vast majority of people that had a bad experience with Jeff and I told them it would handle better with a Dasa then you wouldn't have had a problem with my opinion. Fanboys... I guess it takes one to know one

Kool man, very productive to the OP. Thanks for informing OP and the rest of us where Rick Roy got the influence for his new hull, that'll help OP make his choice. I am glad you found a hull ya like though, always seems like you have a good time on it.

I never said Rickter copied the Aquabot, I simply said that some of the Edge's new characteristics are shared with the Aquabot which seemed weird for someone to hate one then buy the other. I've ridden an XFS and Aquabot back to back and could notice the benefits to the steeper nose rocker and deeper strakes (in surf). I'm sure plenty of other people have made the same comparisons so if you think Rick Roy is too big and too successful to pay attention to the success of other companies and what their hulls provide then you're crazy. Every company shares/steals ideas. Their competition is good for us buyers.

I know you wanna defend what you like but that's hardly the truth....deeper chines maybe sorta the only comparison. Edge has less rocker then a evo did....It's like all mx riders prefer their bikes setup totally different, well what you like I may not all these hulls are like shoe sizes to me. My big ass feet do not fit in a 1ft bot tray. I felt so cramped like a 7ft guy in a Miata lol just my opinion. It is what it is.

im 6,3 with a size 14 paw. Im assuming you rode a v1, A v2 with a front foothold installed has the same tray length as an sxr which is huge! Not to mention for the size of the hull (comparing it to xfr,footrocket,brawler,q8,bob etc)
Theres also rickter guys that prefer the evo over the edge.
Best advice from a builder to the op dont listen to a thing these people are saying, ride every single ski you can but make sure to ride a few of the same brands so you can feel different hulls and the way each is setup.I know ive been let down by hype on some brands.

Just ride the hulls you're considering. Don't listen to anyone's opinions because they'll likely be different than yours.

Keyboard cowboys voice their opinion and bash products more than actual riders do. Half the time people that bash a product haven't even ridden one

My advise would be to not ask anyone one this forum. Call people/shops who actually ride and ride well.
Call thrust, they will say to get a titan.

Call T.C. freeride, he'll say to get a Rickter.

Call Zach, he'll say get a Krash.

Call xscream, they'll say to get a DVX.

I'd say all are capable and great hulls, but calling shops or pros isn't going to be without bias.

Ride as many as you can, even the same hull with slightly different setups.

There are a lot of people on here that have ridden many hulls and setups and can certainly give thier opinion based on what they like best for thier riding style, setup and physical size (some hulls are more comfortable for taller riders, etc) . Unfortunately, this information may not be very helpful to you, as you might have a different riding style, different setup, etc. The only real way to form an opinion of your own is to ride as many hulls as you can (as previously suggested by others)

I was given this same advice when I was looking for an a/m hull and chose to ignore it. I just ordered one and hoped for the best. Fortunately for me, I like it a lot. A friend of mine did the same and he wasn't so lucky. He currently has a different hull which he enjoys however, it cost him a bunch of extra money to get there.

Good luck in your search.

Riding skill has a lot to do with it too. Someone new to standups (not referring to anyone particular) will probably hate a DVX, Revolver, Circus etc. but someone looking to raise the bar on flatwater will only want this type of hull. If you're going by people's opinions on here then keep an open mind and be patient because you'll have to sift through a lot of bullcrap and biased opinions. As you grow as a rider you'll want different things out of a hull that may cause a beginner to struggle. A lot of things to consider. A huge hull has a huge tray but rides like a huge hull. A smaller hull will likely have a shorter tray and ride like a shorter smaller hull. I'm not sure how people even ride a Rok-R when looking at the tray but a lot of people say it's a great riding hull so there's a lot more to a hull than seen in pics. Weight distribution, shape, and design all have a play in the final product

Man.... this sport is so much like moto, prob why I got sucked in it so quick. In dirtbikes its kawi, yam, hon, suz, and ktm and everyone who rides one will love what they have, and swear by it. Here its hulls. Every bike can win a championship, and every hull can take home a title or do a back flip. Just because I like my freak so much, doesn't mean im going to push it saying its the best. It may be the best for me, but it may not be the best for someone else. Some people swear by brands, but have yet to even take the time to get comfortable on another brand. Back when I used to race, I was so comfortable on my bikes, someone wanted me to ride theirs I would decline just so I didn't have to tell them the bike rode like poop because people cant set up a entire package......

Set up has a ton to do with it as well. When I first started riding AM hulls, I hated every single one of them because I had my superjet set up for my style. You can make anything ride good with proper set up and skill. Buy a hull that is advertised for whatever type of riding you want, and set it up for you. Take the time to talk to the builders, and take customer service into your choice as well.
