Mid shaft from the 94-95 SN is the same as a RN SJ. No need to change that unless hull has a setback engine location requiring a shorter mid shaft.

I wouldn't worry to much about the shaft, if you send it to JetManiac he can shorten or lengthen it according to what you need for a pretty reasonable price. My biggest issues were clearance, if you buy a shorter am hull you want to measure carefully as your pipe might be to long or not have hood clearence, water box to big, SJ tank not able to fit etc. The next one I get I will definitely measure more carefully maybe I won't have to buy so many parts.

Also depending on how good you are with fiberglass work etc. companies that make bob and brawler hulls offer DIY kit where they send you the top and bottom pieces and you build everything yourself. A lot cheaper price wise but something that takes a lot of time. ON the plus side it may be a long winter this year so plenty of time to build.
 
Winters are long in Missouri.... Starting to get an am hull itch. One thing I worry is we typically cruise the lake chasing boats and babes. I'm hoping an am hull won't fell like I'm hunched over and try to ride for hrs.
 
I am revisiting this as I am really wanting to buy a new hull for a winter build. I have seen a bob gen 2 on here, rickters, etc. my budget is still around $5000-$6000 but thought if I find the right ski I can up it if needed. Keep in mind I can technically only have a 701 on the lake I live on. when trying to do barrel rolls or flips does a 20 pound difference in hull weight make a huge difference in performance or ease on tricks? I'm looking at glass hulls compared to carbons. Didn't know if the 20 pounds was worth the extra money. I still want to swap as much as I can from my 94 SN 701 with bpipe into the new hull. I know I will have to upgrade pole along with other parts but still am unsure what to look for and what's good on prices
 
weight makes a huge difference when limited on engine.... that being said i know 2 people that flip on a 701 with a limited b pipe, stoc pump, and ada head.... one is on a glass rok-r and one on a glass bob gen-2.
 
I've got a 61x motor that is getting pulled for a bad crank seal. My plan was to get cylinders bored and go with 61x case and 62t cylinders dual carb intake. Still have my ada girdle head, b pipe, and msd coil/ignition. We are both limited to size of motor. They won't pull head and look at mm. All they look for is the plate.

We really want skis to barrel roll and flip yet still be good skis to chase boats and bikinis all day err day
 
I was recently told glass hulls that are 80-90 pounds do not have enough reinforcement for wear and tear of failed flip and b roll attempts. Is this true? I want to learn how to b roll and flip off of a boat wake but not if I'm going to trash an am hull while doing that. Who knew buying an AM hull would be so difficult?!

There's only a few hulls out there that hold up perfectly to an amateur rider trying to flip off boat wakes

If you're worried about damaging a glass hull...why not save up a little more cash and just get a carbon hull...lighter and stronger.

As discussed. IMO stock SJ is best to learn BR on, reinforced. Best ski IMO for trashing and tossing to the side to move on in a few years. Save your cash and ride more :) But if you want an aftermarket hull and have made up your mind, you already know my opinion :) There is no substitute for Carbon. Light weight is where its at.
