Loose gas cap

Only a matter of time until I posted here

Was gone for a week so I loosened the gas cap
And no I didn't forget to tighten it when I rode today except I guess I didn't tighten it enough even though I checked it twice and something told me to check a third time but I didn't

Rode for about an hour doing typical subs, power slides,180 nose stabs and the occasional boat wake up

Was coming back through the no wake zone and looking down saw my gas cap vibrating
Jumped off the ski and tightened it back up
Ski was still running fine so I kept going thinking it must have just happened
Got back to my shop and immediately flushed the ski (figured any water was mixed pretty good from the drive)
Upon the end of flushing I noticed it was running a little different, shut it down and drained fuel, a good amount of water in the bottom of the tank
I dodged a damn bullet on that one, that could have been ugly

if you put the petcock on reserve, pull the fuel line feeding the carbs off and blow into the tank thru the check valve, it pushes all the water at the bottom of your tank out the carb hose. when you don't see clear water coming out, put the line back on. I end up doing this every time I sink my boat and i'm out beating again in about 20 minutes.

Ha, but you're just wacky!
