Lost a buddy over the weekend

My brother called me last night to let me know one of my best buddies from when I was a kid died over the weekend. Same age as me (58). We haven't hung out in a long time as sometimes life takes people in different directions, but still it's a loss that I am really feeling. Pat was the kid that got me into motorsports. He taught me how to ride and repair a dirt bike and later how to fix snowmobiles. We used to put miles and miles on our RM100s after school and on weekends regardless of the season or the weather. We went as far as 'studding' our knobbies with sheet metal screws so we could ride them on the lake in the winter. So much fun. We also used to ride the crap out of our sleds, even though they were horrible pieces of junk that needed at least a change of plugs and a new belt after what seemed like every ride. Other shenanigans was trying to locate where his dad hid his beer and stealing it (even though it was Schlitz). His Dad wasn't supposed to be drinking and had convinced his wife that he stopped the habit, so big Jim couldn't exactly raise the alarm when he found his stash was gone. :) Too many more memories to list, but they were all good. RIP my friend.
