I used to ride at Keith's Springs Mtn for alot of years and knew it like the back of my hand. A buddy bought a new bike and decided he wanted to ride some place new so we loaded up and headed to TN. We get there and everything looks just like it did 10 years ago on the top side. We start down the mtn on a 13 mile trail that I used to make good time on and 100 yds into it I realize I have F'ed up big time. We spent the next 4 hours throwing our bikes down 50' gulleys time after time because their was NO turning back. Mother Nature had been a complete beyotch and destroyed the trails we used to ride. Now it's almost dark and we can't find a way up the mtn. Long story short late that night we finally got back to the truck and we were both dam glad to be alive. If you were not there you would never get it. We really thought we were going to have to leave behind 15000.00 worth of MX bikes and walk out. One of those days that made us really appreciate life!

i meant with the rescue. gotta give a few tips for all the people watching, no need for a lost ski, especially in those conditions.
dont let go! you need to stay close to your boat to keep it upright and floating, if a wave comes and you dont got a death grip on it you gave up. sometimes you cant hang on, so swim to your ski!! you have no time to waste.
its your responsibility to save yourself and your ski, never expect someone to come save you. if your swamped and have to tow get your line hooked up and be ready to hook onto another ski. this has to be done FAST, 10 seconds is all your going to get.
hope you guys find it.

proper etiquette when you are down is to have the tow rope hooked up to the front of your ski and holding the quick release on the free end over your head so the rescuer just has top pull up and you can clip on to him. Then get back in the tray so you can be pulled in.

The rescuer should only have to stop for a few seconds while in the break. He is risking losing his ski to save you, don't waste a second!

Sorry you lost your ski, hope you get it back. Surf riding is a risk, especially when it gets big. For what its worth, it looks like you have a cool riding spot though.

Agreed 100%.

That really sucks you lost your boat man. Everytime I go out in the surf that same fear is always in the back of my mind, which is probably a good thing.

Good ending you get to ride another day. This last Saturday at Morro Bay 3 men in a boat coming through dense fog missed the harbor and capsized in the surf. Two of the men made it to the beach. The other man was later found and cpr was unsuccessful. They were not wearing there pfd's. Sad.
