Lower Outerbanks Beach Ski Launching

Hello. Heading down to NC for a little vacation and decided we'll bring our skis along. Looking for beach launch spots and if there are restrictions or what areas my have none? Have a beach cart with us, so first looking to put in that way...or any ramps or other spots available that can get us on the ocean. Heading from New Bern area and more specifically looking at Emerald Isle to Atlantic Beach for starters. Any information and good ride spots anyone can pass along would be great. Thanks much.

I'm from New Bern and spent the summers in Emerald Isle... small world. Anyway, I'm not aware of any restrictions launching from the beach. You used to be able to drive directly on the beach but I think they outlawed that years ago but you can use a beach cart no problem. You'll probably have to park at one of the pubic parking lots since 95% of the beach access are gated condos from Emerald Isle all the way up to Atlantic Beach. There's a nice ramp all the way south in Emerald Isle here - https://www.emeraldisle-nc.org/public-boat-ramp. You'll probably have more fun riding in the inlet instead of out on the ocean depending on the weather, there's a lot more stuff to see.

When are you gonna be there? We are going to kill devil hills aug 16-23rd and I was wondering the same thing. I’ll be bringing my havoc and a spark.

You'll be in the upper outer banks about 3.5 hours away from him but that area is super fun to ski. Plenty of ramps on the bay side, not sure about ocean side but less cluttered so you shouldn't have a problem.

Hi...thanks for the info. I noticed on google maps...the far left of Emerald Isle shows tracks going off Inlet Dr. directly onto the sand w/ vehicles at the waters edge. Is that the area you are mentioning? Are 4wd permits needed on the beach there? Thanks
