While i'm pretty bored, I wondered has anybody lowered their stock RN SJ hood? It seems like it'd be pretty simple as long as you line everything back up, plus it'd go from weighing 20 freakin pounds to maybe 15! Anybody done this?

One of our guys chopped the top part of his hood, shaped it with foam then glassed over it. You'd be better off just buying an AM hood kit though..

A/m hoods are insane expensive! There's stock hoods on here that go for 40 or 50. I might scoop one up and see what i can do with it. 50 vs 700, ill take the 50!

im doing this currently and i also plan on removing the annoying fire extinguisher spot on the hood and just having a nice smooth center like the AM hoods.
I have a build thread on PWCtoday if interested. no pics of the hood yet half done though so ill put some up soon!

Aranka did a nice how to thread a couple years ago on here. Might be worth searching for it, and getting some ideas. I wouldn't bet any money that it would be lighter, but cheaper than buying A/M for sure.
