lowering a stock hood

im going to attempt to lower my stock hood. does anyone know of any threads or sites that might give me a guiding hand? any impute would be most appriciated!!

My buddy steve did it to his stock hood. It didn't look great but he didn't go crazy on the project either. I've seen other hoods done some what the same way. it would look best with a x-metal pole.

thats so weird, i was just thinking about if anyones done it/how much effort it takes.

i did it before and turned out nice they need to be reinforced after you lower them.the hardest part is if you put the humps in the back over the air intakes.it tough to get them symetrical.im gonna go back thrue the notes i wrote down when i did mine and do a write up here later today.i also have a mold for a lowered nose peice if anyone is interested cause i know their expensive.

not too easy but cheap and strong as you want it to be

as for the nose peice....
tape off the ski and pour some foam then shape it to flow with your new hood shape...then wrap it in some glass = nose peice

draw a line, cut on said line, fiberglass over new gapping hole, paint. personally i would skip the paint but some people like nice pretty boy skis.

So pretty much ditch the top 1/4 of the hood. Doesnt seem worth it to me. Maybe ill leave this mod out.

also have to remove the center channel and fire extinguisher junk.

just tape of a desired shape or line for both sides and try to keep the sidewalls of the inner channel so you have a guide to glass around.

So then do you fill those voids with foam, shape it how you want it and glass over the foam?

So after you cut the top off of hood do you obviously cant just bridge the void with glass...how do you get the contour on top?

i lowered my sn hood, would pics of that help, i took pics the whole way throught.....
