Other MacBook Pro Price breaks?

I need to pick up a MacBook Pro for my daughter's first year of college. She'll get a $100 educational discount from the AppleStore, but is there any other way to get these things a little cheaper? (Besides CL or eBay)

Thanks

Some of the online stores like Mac Mall have them slightly discounted and they will also accept the student discount.

Also you can check the apple refurb store. Same warranty as new. But you can't apply the student discount to those, so the cost savings sometimes equals out.

If you purchase from apple right now, you'll also get a $100 Apple/iTunes/App Store gift card.

Bestbuy has discounts sometimes

I was in there the other day and a guy got 45%off a MacBook air for buying an apple tv
i might be going to pick up a new one today

That is a pretty hefty discount. Was it the current or previous generation?

I have a 2011 Mac Book Air, 256GB, 4GB RAM, 13" and it is the best computer I've ever owned. I would love to pic up one of the new Mac Book Airs that have USB 3.0 and more RAM.

I had a 2009 Pro (Core 2 Duo) 8GB RAM and now the 2001 Air (i7) 4GB RAM. The air is much faster even with the lack of RAM, but they were years apart, so its not the fairest comparison.

Really, it is the SSD that really gives it a performance boost. In my opinion you only need a PRO if you're doing some intense video editing, otherwise the Air should be more than sufficient when it comes to everyday tasks.

The newest PROs don't even have an optical drive, just like the Airs.

But also, if you need anything larger than 13", you have to go with the PRO.
