Mag pump issues

I have a 14 vein 144 mag that is being a bastard! When I bought the ski it had the typical mag pump swelling going on and busted the oem housing. Skat impeller was burned and worn on the edges where it was hitting the wear ring. Mag vein section sent out and had it machine fit to a new housing.

New bearings installed and new Solas impeller. Assemble the pump and the impeller contacts the wear ring to the point it locks up. Bought a New wear ring and same issue.

Tap the wear ring to take it off and if it is shimmed with a gap the impeller does not hit and turns smooth (see pics).

Before I buy a new drive shaft what else could it be? I hate to just throw money at a problem but I have no idea. It's not the wear ring and the prop is new.

Is it a setback pump?

Well can't help you then...when I had my setback done I had them machine the wear ring to match the wear ring area in the stator section. Figured maybe that was jamming you up.

I think the machine shop didn't center the mag correctly to the new housing and it is crooked now.

Do you have the alignment pins installed between the pump and wear ring?

Yes, all alignment pins are in place

assemble dry without impeller and see if mating surface matches.
