The Foam In The Tray is definitely not waterlogged (as i'm pretty sure theres no foam in there, as it sits low in the arse end but is very light and has had the footholds done by a previous owner) It's An FX1, Im 5,10 and weigh 8-9stones (120 Pounds), Theres No engine mods or hull mods (besides foot holds which i'm pretty sure has nothing to do with it) my friend could be riding it wrong but his stock sj doesn't bounce as much as my FX1, the ski is used for freestyle so that may explain the washers (if i took them out would it really stop porpoising), its a stock FX1 pole, and it porpoises on glass water( When i'm the only one on the lake so its super flat), i stand in the surf/racing stance (left foot top of the tray, right foot in the back right foot hold, bit weird i know), Does That Help ?

What stance are you in and how fast are you going when this is happening? You wont be able to ride with both feet in the foot holds at any significant speeds w/o porpoising (again, I have not ridden a FX1). You need to be in surf/race stance to make any kind of speed and get the ski to ride flat. One foot forward with your weight evenly distributed b/t both feet and the bars.

My SJ porpoises like crazy after about 15mph if I am back in the try. The only way I can stand with my feet side by side is to put a lot of weight on pole or stand in the front of the tray.

Any yes, removing the plate shims could potentially help. It takes 5 mins to take them out and put them back in. Tuning is more than just making sure your carbs give the right fuel/air. Tuning also applies to the length of the pole and the type of ride plate, so forth. Just try it and see what it changes. What harm can it do.

I Have my feet in the holds during jumps and i do ride racing stance (left foot front of the tray, right foot at the back in the right foot hold) thats how i ride and i'll give it ago by leaning over the front and messin around with the washers

I have been riding an FX1 for 17 years now, came from a 550. although it could be partially caused by your ride plate, scoop grate, it's most likely just getting used to the ski. If I am just cruising along my arms are relaxed and i am leaning forward slightly, my left foot in the front of the tray and my right foot about half way back. if the ski starts to porpoise, I make my arms rigid, and lean forward until it stops, basically pushing the nose down. then I a can resume my relaxed position.
Is there a toploading scoop grate on the ski? If it doesn't have one, I would highly recommend one. I have an R&D on mine. A lot of times people will ride my ski and say it porpoises, I tell them "not for me"

It is probably all in your technique, but also check your ride plate for flatness. I've got two pro-tec plates, one fx1 and one sj, that are 1/4" out of flat at the rear. Fixing that made a good difference in handling.

Dangerboy's feedback reflects my thoughts exactly.
FX1s are more prone to this phenomena than SJ's etc, they are shorter, skinner, and they respond to weight bias more dramatically. When I had my first FX1 I had the same problems and stance fixed it, get some weight forward would be my recommendation.

leave the washers, your stance is fine, you just need to weight the nose .try bending you knees and leaning forward, FX-1s like you to ride with your shoulders over the bars elbows out. you cant stand straight or lean back while riding them

there's your answer...just get some weight forward and it will smooth right out

as far as the rest of the responses? lol...foam and pole measurements and weights and all of this and that....its all nonsense
