Making Templates for RN with footholds

I will be doing a turf as foothold install on a friends ski shortly and really wondering what is the best way to make templates. I’ve tried using loads of tape overlapping, and thin paper but having a heck of a time making one good enough I can trust to cut on hydro turf. Any help with pictures is appreciated !

Some patience and packing paper will get you through. I left an extra 2” or so on the outer edges to account for uncertainty

I turfed a ski with footholds a couple weeks ago. It was my first time putting turf on. I measured the sides, added a couple inches on the inside and outside, glued the top of the rails down first, then glued the outsides down and cut the edge to match the ski. Then I glued the inside and cut the bottom. I made several attempts at making templates out of tape, cardboard, and paper but couldn't get that to work. That being said how does everyone trim the edges of the turf after they lay it? I used a razor blade but I didn't want to push down into the paint so they came out a little ragged.

I always use painters tape to make a template. That way, all of my edges are cut prior to glueing onto the ski. Makes for a much cleaner edge. Also, the type of painter tape makes a difference as well. The stickier the better. Multiple layers helps

Does anyone have pictures to go with the explanation ? I’ve done the paint tape method it does work great, need to fine tune before bringing to cardboard, haven’t gotten to that point yet
