flat water is nice once in a while but pretty boring. I used to ride it more until I started riding surf. There are challenges with the crowd location as mentioned, but well worth the risk. The people that argue for flat water events are usually too far from the coast to ride surf. Kinda like sail surfers talking that sail surfing is better then real surfing.

I liked that old school run a lot better than the current day stuff.

Thing is, how many of us can actually do half of those tricks? A lot of them require a good deal of balance!

Go ahead and promote one, cause I'm not -- I've been burned in the past setting up event in Florida, then bad weather comes in cancels festival.. too much risk with sponsors, time, energy..

Most big sponsors I deal with want activation of their $$ with the crowd interacting with the athletes -- close-up action.. You can use boat wakes, double-up, or just flat water stuff.. In Pittsburgh we had Eric, only 50 feet from a huge crowd of people doing a back-flip or barrel roll with the motorcycle ramp in front..

I like the old school stuff too, that why we have a deepest sub and highest fountain contest. We also used the one minute run, plus a sick trick... but I also like this stuff too..
