Blaster Maxing out my 701cc blaster *UPDATE* 57.4MPH!

My buddy Jason was the 4th blaster rider. He had a stock hull with hull extensions (now the stock hull for my 1100) with a Lamey PV as well. No matter what we did, his was never as quick as ours. More than likely the weight.

Racing Blasters in sport class vs. high end HXs is a job, lol. If it was easy, everyone would do it. :)

In all seriousness tho, I thoroughly enjoyed racing the HXs. One, I new I would always be ahead of them at the first turn and two, most never thought we could beat them even if we did. I won most of the races I entered against some really nice HXs and some really good rider. But, it took a serious commitment to do it. Once I lost interest in training and spending so much money on sport skis, I was toast. I guess that is one of the reason's why blasters always appealed to me, even though you 'can' sit on one, I never did and no matter how fast my equipment was, if I didn't do what was required of me, I wasn't going to win $hit. I had to earn it.

BMWtech - who is Chris? Hyslop? Macc? If you mean Macc, yes, I raced him one time, in the ocean during a bad storm at Myrtle Beach. I think he lapped me on the last lap. His surf skills were simply 100 times better than anyone else on the line. I would have loved to race him on flat water, but it never happened.

Only time I raced sport was on a mild limited. In SS Class. I got the holeshot. I was use to riding my wife's B2. That was the hardest race of my life. Had to hit each corner with my legs pushing on the outside rear corner to keep hooked up. Could not ride it HX style. Ended up getting tired and spun out on last lap. That was my first ever race in 98.

55 on mine tbm pump stuffer unknown prob riva red pipe with a waterbox 62t/ 61x jetted carbs milled head . Yes I used a gps

Al you need to gps it again. Your blaster is no way hitting 55. Next time you come down to ride i can bring a stalker radar gun out if you would like to find out what it really dose.

Ive seen 52 on my phone. Dual 44s. Massive porting. Riva head at 185 PSI. Red pipe. Modded ignition and more.... Didn't build the ski so I can only vouch for whats visible.

Maybe he means 55 down stream?
I would say it's a typo but 45 seems slow for a dual carb blaster with a milled head and a pipe. Especially if it's ported.

( And A-LOT more bottom end )

Switched Pro-tec head to an ADA girdled 35cc w/ new BR8ES Spark plugs
Matched exhaust gasket to cylinder
Ground the exhaust manifold to match the gasket
Polished the exhaust manifold starting at 80grit down to red rouge polish
Cleaned all of the carbon out of the pipe with simple green, wire brush and 100grit

Turned the main jet all the way out and she still wanted more.

Are you sure the original rpm number was correct? You lost 400 rpms and went 2.5 mph faster without touching the impeller or nozzles?

Stock hull SS - everything listed above with porting by Ed Brazina, FP Dry High Rev (instead of tnt), total loss, mag set back, 205psi - 59mph

Mod Hull - 8mm Lamey PV motor built by Judge, every bell and whistle you can do - 61.3mph

Stock hull 1100 Kawi conversion, Open spec legal - 62.5mph

Mod Hull 1100 Kawi superstock Judge motor with 144 mag pump, pump gas - 64.9mph

I couldn't imagine 64mph on a blaster!!!! That's insanity, lol. Mine will run, I'm guessing around 49-52. Limited pipe, protec head, 44's, prok f/a's, plate, intake, prop unknown.
Would like to ride a tripple though just to feel the power difference.

I know an engine needs air/fuel/spark to run. After that it is all magic to me. I opened up the exhaust manifold alot, and cleaned a ton of carbon out of the chamber. Maybe after opening up the exhaust there is less restriction and she is able to make more power at a lower rpm, but isn't getting enough fuel now to max out rpms? Same tiny tach and It is connected to the same spark plug wire as it was before. Maybe it is off?

Added a bigger main jet today. 165 to a 170. She ran great but the tach went out so I am not sure how much it helped.. Also it was a steady 20mph wind with the lake full of whitecaps.. Still hit 48 on the gps though. :)

Sent the cylinders off to CPT to be big bored. Also found out that it was NOT ported, it was just cleaned up and the sleeves ground to match the ports.

So 49.3mph with all the bolt on's and a stock prop! Can't wait to see how she rides as a ported 760! :D

He said it wasn't worth doing the cases unless i was going to switch to 62T cases. I think the true CC will be 754?

And leaning toward the 14/18 concord or Solas I 14.5/18 per Coffmans/Buzzards recommendations. Called Skat and they recommended a Skat Big hub 13/18 but I can't find any used ones.
