Super Jet Mdavies' SN - Winter Project

Your UMI adapter might still work, my UMI throttle was a pain in the ass to get the adapter in turns out the adapter gets screwed in at a slight angle, Try that... If it makes any sense

Hmm, will definitely give it another shot.

In my opinion all the finger throttles that are made by a jet ski company are either crappy quality or way overpriced for what they are. Im just running a bmx brake lever and they are stronger and cheaper. check this one out.http://www.3ride.com/v2/detail/?itemID=2608

Seems like a decent alternative.

Just got inside from doing my finally glassing in of my footholds. Poured 2 pound 2 part foam already and have seal the hole I used with a layer of glass. Looking at buying some contact cement from a local store and then starting the turfing process. How much Contact cement is needed, approximately?

Mike's checklist of things to get done:

Finger Throttle
Swap out jets
Get a replacement bolt to mount motor
Swap props
Install primer (On order)
Possibly order BK twisters FFP water screws, or replace with standard ones. My top one is stripped by I can still get it out.

I take it you read all the how to turf threads lol, first time I did it I said f this chit, 2nd time I said the same thing, 3rd time wasn't so bad and I'm looking forward to the 4th time... The secret is take your time, before you apply the cement, pretend your actually laying it down, you will need a buddy's help, keep practicing and when you figure you could do it in your sleep and you've got all the kinks out do it 3 more times, because you will get cocky and f it up, when your adding heat it should be so hot you can hardly touch it... Just don't burn it, I doubt this will be the last time you turf a ski!!
Good luck!

Well looks like it won't be the first time I turf a ski. Dropped it off at X2 guys shop today and letting him work some magic. He will be also swapping out my 14/18 Skat for my 9/15 Hooker, as well as making my throttle cable adapter fit into my Sharkfab finger throttle.

Once that is all done, just gotta reinstall pump, install limiting rope, and pretty much done.

I am busted. Attempted to lay some turfed and f'd up royally. Didn't let the cement cure enough and caused trouble, ended up just ripping it off, calling it quits, and getting a quote from Doug Full Throttle Motorsport in Barrie. Definitely will invest in a good looking tray.

doug does great turfing, you will be very happy with the results

"Almost" completed.

SJ Build Winter 2010 002.jpg Completed Turf.

Just gotta zip tie the fuel lines, toss on the R/D F/A, and I am completed.

However, started it up today and noticed some exhaust smoke coming out of the engine compartment..... Seems to be a small amount leaking out of the water-box, whether the hose from the B-pipe, or the long hose to the rear exhaust, I am unsure.

Kind of pissed off I have everything installed to find out I may need to pull out the battery and tank again. Thought I would post some recent pictures since it has been a month.

oh come on now, pulling the tank and battery is about 3 min of work unless you still have the nose filler hooked up, then it is more like 5 min. The ski is looking good, is it going to be ready for DRR?

Looks good!
I learned it's easier to do your first start-up with the gas tank outside your hull for your exact reason... That's assuming your first fire up isn't on the water!
Spray soap and water over all your joints, it will bubble like a bass-turd where you have leaks no matter the size

Nose filler is hooked up, but that damn tank so tight. I will have you investigate it at DRR, which I AM ready for. I will hassel some of you Pro's there for some tunning tips. Right now she isn't idling (No big deal, didn't adjust a thing from stock FFP spec's), but I have never had this thing where she screams.

I definitely will use some soap and check out where it is leaking.

yeah man no problem, i like riding other peoples skis and tell them what to change. haha. i won't work on you ski but i will check it out for sure. when are you water testing your new ride?

check your idle screw to make sure it is set properly....

Will do. Also, Somehow in the past 5 months since stripping this thing down, I managed to lose the screw that sets the idle for the second, dependent carb. Anyone have any specs on it? 3/16? 1/4? Not sure. Tiny little guy
