Midshaft bearing housing rebuild???

D-Roc

I forgot!
it looks a little deep, try 2 pumps of grease, i think if the seal is too far in it may block the grease passage. i just built a new one for my ski this winter. i used all oem parts. they cost more for a reason (not marketing) there is like a handful of parts on this thing just take it apart and put it back together with new parts. simple. tap tap tap with a mallet.

Will two pumps of grease be able to push this seal back into its proper location?? I have never looked at another FX-1 Midshaft bearing so I dont have a reference to go off of?? I didnt think the seal was suppose to move in and out?

Do you recommend rebuilding this even though the shaft spins smooth and doesnt have play??

I have no idea what to replace and am running outa allocated funds quick!! I may just send to jetskisolutions.com if you recommend replacing!

the seal has never moved, dont rebuild it, you dont need to replace it.

so the air will lower the water pressure and allow it to boil? i thought it was the other way around.

Not the air causing low pressure. The prop blade has a low pressure side and a high pressure side. Low pressure in general lowers boiling point. Water boils at a lower temp in Denver than it does in Miami. As gas(air) comes out of solution(because of low pressure) in the water it can scour and erode the prop. I'm not all that savvy when it comes to chemistry/physics, so that's the simple version of it.:smoker:

If the midshaft rubber has separated from the bearing housing or the seals are bad, air from the engine compartment can make it's way into the pump. You don't want ANY air leaks anywhere in the driveline.

that much i do know, lol. That makes more sence then the way i thought. When compressing water it makes a lower pressure on the intake side, lower boiling point, add air to try to compress into the high pressure area = no go!:lmao:
