So i was riding along when all of a sudden my ski started singing an awful tune and i wasn't going any where. I believe my mid shaft took a dump and i was wondering do i just replace it and go on or should i take apart the whole driveline and check everything?

Also my pump is shimmed could this be the cause of it?

One more thing how do you like it up to make sure this does not happen again, i noticed that at a certain speed, just above idle, the ski vibrated pretty bad but a little more throttle and it would go away.

Thanks,
Shane

Worn splines and improper alignment make it happen.

Replace both the drive shaft and short shaft at the same time otherwise you're just asking for it to happen again.

The vibrating could be a couple of things, but is usually worn bearings in the pump.

If I were you, replace pump bearings, purchase new/used mint condition drive shaft, purchase new short shaft and rebuild the midshaft housing with new bearings and seals. Do it all now, or else you'll be doing it all again soon. Don't half a$$ it.

But you're primary problem is probably all the river riding you've been doing. Lack of salt water can do that to a ski. hahaha

It wasn't going anywhere? Like the engine reved but didn't seem to be spinning the impeller? If that is the case, you may have stripped the spines and need a mid shaft and drive shaft. Did it slow the engine down? Like a bearing siezed?

Have you inspected at all? Maybe the impeller came loose. Maybe you blew a coupler rubber.

Pumps are usually shimmed, the question is whether it was shimmed correctly.

You are going to have to tear into it and find the root cause. Mid shaft bearings do go bad, as with any bearing, inspect them all and see what happened.

That vibration could be an alignment issue. Once you take it apart, fix your issue, make sure you get it all aligned properly when assembling.
