Might buy a '14 superjet for $7k out the door?

I called a reputable local dealer and he had a '14 superjet for $6,999+ttl. I gave it a few days and asked if he could do $7k out the door.
Maybe he us just keeping me on the hook, but he sounded like he thinks he can do it.

So I thought I'd ask before I get a response:
Is that a smoking deal or should I just wait until I find a decent modded superjet for a good price?

That's the only reason I'm kind of torn. I really want a good stunt ski. I've only been on the standups for about 2 months and I'm addicted! I know I'm not going to be doing back flips tomorrow, but I'd like the balls in between my legs to do it when I'm ready. I have a stock js550 and js330 right now I want something more. I'd know my limits ifi had an aftermarket or modded though
On one hand I'd like to get a modded SJ or a used aftermarket
On the other I just want to jump on that new one then sell it when I need something even more. Decisions decisions. .

if you buy that new expect half when you sell it. sounds like you would be better off grabbing a used am hull or a nice modded rn. both can be had for that price or a little more and you will be a lot happier a year or 2 from now

That carbon XFT that's for sale is more money but A LOT more ski if freestyle is in your future. Yet still a good riding hull. The XFT craftsmanship is so many levels above Yamaha. There are other good deals in the for sale section too, that's the one that keeps popping up in my head. If I were in the market it wouldn't be on the market.

What everyone else said. Buy a 4k superjet thats built and then save your pennies for a AM hull after you've outgrown or think you've outgrown the stock hull...

You're getting advise from a lot of people who have bought something twice or even three times and look back wishing they knew then what they know now. Buy once... its a lot cheaper in the long run.

^^^^Yeah I bought a Gen 1.5 and wish I hadn't lol.^^^^ Gotta love a carbon hull/hood, handpole and trim setup. Add drypipe and FS carbs on a fresh Lamey motor and you got a full meal with left overs. Buy that 2014 Sj and ya get a sandwich, still gotta buy chips and a soda pop.

Like somebody days. All depends on riding and what you want. I think you'll get on that sj and say "mani bet a pipe would be great" next thing you know you chopped the ski up and have a built motor and still not happy ha. I'd buy used, ride it for a few months or few seasons, then sell and get an AM hull if that fits your riding.

Damnit why do I have to make grown up decisions?
I suppose I was leaning towards yamaha for the financing but yes it seems that I should just wait for an AM.
Thanks for the advice fellas.

Is that Bob that scraggly posted capable of power back flips or do you still need good wake? I know it takes years of practice but I just wonder what these guys on youtube who do power back flips from a stand still have in their machine.

I'm all about playing around, I'll pass you up on one wheel at 125 mph on a good fuel injected crotch rocket.

There are many advantages to buying new. Price is not one of them. The suggestions you will receive will be primarily price driven.

A new ski will be less likely to break. Left stock, it has a warranty. You aren't inheriting someone else's problems. It has plenty of room to grow. You are less likely to get hurt if you lack the skill to manage something more powerful. It allows customization to what you like, which adding those parts one at a time is a hobby for many of us. The 08+ has some nice advantages over the 07- for many riders (some disadvantages for others). and so forth.

The only real advantage to used is price, because money aside, new can be anything used is.

You have to decide what is best for you. Used superjets come from somewhere. New might be best for you, it might not be. The decision to buy new or wait for used is completely independent of whether of not the new price you are being offered is the best new price available.

if you want a ski that takes no tinkering, starts everyday for the next 20 years, get a stocker and don't touch it. A Bone stock 550sx is a clear example of this, they go for $1500-2000 to this day.

Love my stock SXR! People ask what I've done to it, I tell them it's the rider. I don't care that I paid more for a 2011 SXR in 2012, there's piece of mind knowing I'm the only one who's touched it. Call me Paranoid, but all of my stuff out lasts the next guy and then some. I still have perfectly working toys, bikes, Pentium 1 computer, classic video game systems. My last car went to 324k when I sold it, I still ride my dad's 1974 road bike with all original components minus the wheels(other kids bent em!) If I don't know the guy(gal) personally and trust him, I won't buy it. Like father, like son.

I am going to disagree with everyone here......... My Ski is old. Parts of my ski is a 1997, My Hull is a 2000. Most everything mechanical has been replaced, many parts several times. Goatse has not been on ski's for long. He does not need an AM hull, He does not need a built motor. He also does not need to buy somebody else's problems either. He needs to learn how to ride, how to handle a ski.......... Nothing will frustrate a new rider than having a POS ski to work on. I know 2 kids here in town that bought a basket case 650sx and a 300. The one with the 300 upgraded to a 91 - 550sx that he bought from my best friend. It was a pretty good ski. But still had some issues. The Carb had to be rebuilt this year. the 650. They are still replacing part after part on it.

I say buy the 2014 SJ. Get a good ride plate, intake grate, set of 0 degree bars, and a pole spring. And go ride the piss out of it for a year. They add a B Pipe and Enhancer. Ride it another year. Then look at some good engine porting..............

I bought a 2004 SXR to race Stock Class. I never once had it fail on me. Never had to turn a wrench other than working on setup (Tuning)

Can not finance a AM ski........... I financed my first superjet years back, and im glad I did. If I would have picked up a project as my first ski, a bad taste would have went in my mouth for this sport right away!
