Just a teaser for the end of the night. Painter is lagging on going on vacation for the weekend starting tonight so paint wont be finished till mid to late next week. But I splashed a small amount of paint on the back of a white plate and rubbed a small amount of clear on a quarter size spot. Mannnn, I think this will turn out just perfect. Black from a distance in shade or in the garage, but a nice shine and gray tint when in the sun. Really hoping in the sun its going to make me need to change my shorts. All for right now, time will tell, tick tock tick tock...

Well with some down time I needed to get my gas hog of a truck back on the road. The 38s on this truck really eat up the steering system so new upper ball joints as the old ones were worn down to nothing.

Took me the longest time to get this to separate but once I figured out the trick it was simple the next times I did it. Yes, I said next times because I fudged up and forgot to lock them in with the slip ring on the inside or whatever which keeps them from backing out. It made it to the end of the driveway and I felt them pop. New ones in and the ring installed and a couple of tack welds as I've seen in videos to make sure they stay in place.

Once again, thanks @Todd grochowski for the help and lending a lot of the tools I used.

Finally back on the road awaiting alignment this later this week so I can take her back out to the lake. If the jet ski isn't loud enough or obvious a straight piped 6.0 silverado is20160830_192804.jpg

My ride plate has been repaired many times so I put a sheet over to let me use it one last time if I don't have a new one by the time the ski is ready. Ordered some new carbon, mold release, and a few other things. Made a plug for the most part to make some rideplates. First one will need to be sanded smooth then resin over top to be presentable. I was trying homemade mold release, that didn't work for the resin, but the form was good. I'd like to get into composite work so wanted to try and make a good looking ride plate as my first composite project.

Next project will probably be a beach kart or a hitch hauler....that is the next project while the ski is out of my hands or needing things that are not in my hands quite yet.

As for the ski, its sanded down awaiting paint and graphics if I choose to do so. Just noticed my ski kinda looks like a duck bill or a platypus lol.

I figure the right paint job can look good even without graphics which Id kinda like to do to be different.

But the right graphics really make the ski come to life. I really liked this gray color even tho in person up close it is visual carbon but in picture and from a distance its a nice charcoal gray, almost black but a bit more exciting.

Like these graphics but not wanting to have another black DVX. Hell they come out of the molds black, to paint it I would hate myself after a weeks worth of sanding lol. Not dissing any black DVXs, I don't think even the worst color would ruin the looks of this hull :) plus a buddy of mine has a black ski and u wanted that one before he got it so black has a spot in my heart. Just searching for a dark paint between charcoal and black with a little flake. I will fine out in a day or two how my paint is going to look...Screenshot_2016-08-31-21-59-36.png

They all seem to be mostly straight lines and some angles. Met up with a local graphics company to see what they can do and how close to the Xscream, DVX, and some of the other sponsor logos they could do. Surprisingly most of all the logos he was able to find or draw by hand. Just need to decide a color and which design to base off of and see the price tag if its really worth it to me since the ski might be up for sale over the winter to get some cash back in my bank account. Well time to try out something and see if I can make anything that looks good....

I agree a nice paint job looks good by its self. I could have left mine plain and never put any graphics on it and been happy.

I'm really liking the stuff @Lm12 is doing. When it comes time to redo mine I think that's who I'm going to go with

I had an orange hull last yr. If it wasn't for your sski just being built I would have probably gone that way

Your Chan had the coolest Orange I've ever seen! Wasn't that Vette paint, or House of Kolors?

Was house of colors. Pretty much the same orange as the one I posted above which was Ant Burgess's. Its a candy color and really makes them come to life. If I looked into it more I would have looked into chrome or candy paint jobs just wanted to get back on the water. I have winter to dream up a new color lol

So just messing around on my computer I changed an existing graphic kit and adjusting it to something a little different but something similar to what I like. This is rough because its just a crappy thing on my laptop to Photoshop.

Once there was a design I liked I wanted to get a visual of it on my ski. Also needed to take measurements for graphic company if I decide to do so. Just used masking tape since mostly all straight lines.20160824_205138.jpg
Then I used white poster paper to trace the lines. Usually would take three pieces of paper. First one to get the rough lines and straighten them out. Second one to move the lines around and make any adjustments that are needed and to have things balanced with spacing within each other and to make sure all angles were the same.20160826_133903.jpg

The lastly I would have a final copy to hand to the graphics company as a blue print.

With this he can have a hard copy to take the measurements and angles down to input into his machine. I will decide once I hear back on the prices for decals. And after I see how the paint comes out obviously....

I like silver, grey or any variant. Sharp looking.

I used HOK on my freak. Think it was Pewter-Firemist. Looked nice and held up great. @Sanoman

Yep i told you @N3vrSat1sfied that you would see your ski up there. I'm actually mixing the graphics of two or three skis that all had very similar graphics to make the piece at the front, on the side, and the angle of where the line goes. I'm now at the point of choosing colors for the graphics tho as to which will look better.

I want a small amount of black in the backing of the letters and misc areas to have black to match the turf. Then want to find a silver that is the brightest possible and either a blue like shown above or a yellow as the main color. On the helmet I have the yellow is called acid and has just a slight hint of green and looks great. Unfortunately my graphics can not do super bright colors like vinyls unless he cuts the final by hand in order to get those colors but by then the graphic is layered so much when you run your hand across I wouldn't be happy.

Looks like I might not get graphics or race fuel for a few weeks as somehow I marked the wrong shipping with my label for my motor so instead of $58 dollar shipment it is coming out to $375. Where's that meme of Jonah Hill saying "F*ck me right?" lol
