Does anyone have any advice on how to install the rubber check valve grommets in the pump side of a SBN? I rebuilt a few other carbs, and didn't have any trouble getting them in, but I just ripped a hole in two sets trying to push them through the hole. Any advice? I know, I know, stupid newb...:eek:uttahere:

That's a great idea. I have a tool that I rigged up but I think this would work better.

get a cheap sheet metal pop rivet

remove ths skirt and put it into a pair of vise grips (round nose side out).

pops them right in everytime :bigok:

are you putting them in from the right side?
using plenty of lube and the dull end of the rivet?

Lube em up good and as they are coming through, you can use a small dull screwdriver to "help" them through from the other side.

ya, from what I can tell, I'm doing everything right. Oil, correct side, rivet. Like I said, I've never had another one of these carbs fight me like this before. I'll try the screwdriver.
