That was the days before training wheels and tubbies tooOne of the scariest things I have ever ridden was a Dave Gordon world finals 550 ski, it had every bell and whistle that Westcoast had to throw at it at the time, it took me about thirty minutes to figure how to to ride it without getting tossed, even then when you let off the gas it was like you let a spring loose that had been wound out, it took all I had to stay one it when letting off the gas, people say oh it's just a little 550, trust me anyone who could ride that beast wide open around a bouy course had some serious cahonies, my hat is off to you Aquaholic !
It was supposed to be an Audi color- Nardo Grey. Not what we ended up with, though. It's marine marine paint and this was the closest they could get to it. I'm not sure of the brand or paint code.Hey what's the paint color on that thing? Is that the new Toyota color lunar rock? Looks like it anyway.
This 4mm 580 rips! It's a healthy little boat, and has all the handling bits added that simply weren't even thought of, back when these skis ruled the water. 550's with modern components are just so fun to play on. My Monster SX with similar handling add on's, is absolutely terrifying to ride. But, in a good way!One of the scariest things I have ever ridden was a Dave Gordon world finals 550 ski, it had every bell and whistle that Westcoast had to throw at it at the time, it took me about thirty minutes to figure how to to ride it without getting tossed, even then when you let off the gas it was like you let a spring loose that had been wound out, it took all I had to stay one it when letting off the gas, people say oh it's just a little 550, trust me anyone who could ride that beast wide open around a bouy course had some serious cahonies, my hat is off to you Aquaholic !
Actually, I was just playing with flipping the blade to see if I liked it better. I put it back the way the grey mini monster is configured. For sure, I would try these on the FX1!@Aquaholic Your shop is impressive. Those frickin' stands alone are now $400 each.
I notice the two iterations of your rear sponson blade design with the second blade design swept back rather than forward (for safety I assume?).
Would you recommend putting the Wax sponsons on the rear of an Fx-1?
