Mismatched pump?

New to the yamaha world of skis and after stripping this ski down I noticed the pump didn’t soon very flush with the nozzle cone. Not sure if that how it is supposed to be or if this is a aftermarket pump. Let me know what you think! Thanks

It looks like that might be a solas "mag" pump, they are solid stainless steel as opposed to the aluminum housing of a stock pump, so the flanges are a little smaller than stock. They also, wierdly, don't really line up internally with the reduction nozzle. You can see there is a little bit of a gap there that pressurized water can escape, it is a good idea to find some way to fill that gap as you are loosing a little bit of thrust if water escapes. I think there are companies (maybe Jetmaniac?) who sell stainless rings to fill the gap, I use a big o-ring I got from mcmaster.

That gap right there, you don't want that, if it is what I think it is.

There is probably asimiliar gap on the top and sides, but if you aren't using the alignment dowels between the stator section and the nozzle it might be uneven. Not using the dowels can also create potential issues with pump alignment, so beware of that too. I can't tell from the pics what the dowel situation is, but if I were you I'd pull the nozzle off and check.

I knew something wasn’t right just didn’t seem right! I feel like it’s aftermarket also I’ll look more into later I’ll also ook into the dowels situation. I doubt it has any considering my flywheel cover didn’t have any and only a single 1 in my mid shaft so it wouldn’t surprise me. I’ll if you don’t mind can you tell me what ring you used from McMaster? I use them all the time! Please and thank you
